First time buyers...one person with bad credit... help

Hi,
My partner and I want to buy our first home this year. However my credit rating is awful and I am un-likely to get a mortgage until July/August. My partner already has a mortgage offer so it's looking ever more likely that he will be buying the house alone..
Do joint mortgages exist for couples in this situation or is it just not worth trying? I know it will effect interest rates etc... but I heard somewhere there are ways round it?

YOu will be able to get a mortgage - however the rates offered to you will depend on how the lenders view your past credit history
