A whinge about Britannia BS
I moved into a new home earlier this year & doubled my mortgage with the Britannia as it would have been prohibitively expensive to move to another lender (redemption penalties). They gave me a base rate tracker for two years on the new lend after paying the usual fees, but refused to do anything about the rest of the loan…

Do I have to admit to voluntary repossession?

I have checked my credit report, and there is no mention of the repossession or anything else negative. So, when applying for a mortgage to I have to admit to the repossession? And if so, what…

Help needed please.
My partner and I are looking to buy a home for the first time and would like a 100% mortgage which also combines a loan that would pay off our existing debts (16k between us). We have both had missed payments on credit agreements in the past but have kept these up to date regularly now and are comfortable with repayments.…

Endowment compensation questions
First I must say that I have read a lot of the posts but can't find answers to my questions. Can compensation be paid for an endowment not now linked to a mortgage? We took out an endowment with NU/Natwest in 1989 for a £42000 Mortgage. In 1992 we changed to a repayment with another lender. Over the years we've overpaid…

Hello all, I've been lurking on the MSE website for a while now, and the time has come to make my first post!! As it stands my wife and I own our current property outright, and are therefore mortgage free. We are now looking to move, and the house has been valued around the £165k mark. The price range we're looking to move…

Offset Mortgage for Buy to Let
On the subject of good offset mortgages, I have just remortgaged my Buy to Let propery and have moved to a Clydesdale offset mortgage. This is the first one I've found that is available for Buy to Let. I'm planning to build up an emergency fund for fixing the boler and redecoration so an offset is ideal.

Stoozing and Remortgaging
We have around 15 K stoozed and I am currently considering remortgaging. Is this amount of money (all at 0%) likely to affect my chances of successful remortgaging? Is it worth paying them all off before going shopping? strange

Remortgage with poor credit rating
My wife and I have a mortgage with Bristol & West. We joined them four years ago. The reason we have them and not a 'better' mortgage company is because we panicked when we had money problems and went with a company called Bains & Ernst. It nearly broke us. Bad move. Now we are on a relatively level playing field and on…

Endowment claim - how much?
Like many, we have now had our endowment mis-selling (via Halifax/Std Life) upheld. We have received a letter from the Halifax asking us which method they would like us to use for the calculation; either to use their rates through the life of the mortgage, or to use the companies we were with. We had 8 years (from 1987)…

Changing mortgage supplier proprty now rented
Hi My discounted rate mortgage has now ended and the Halifax tell me that, because my property is now let, I can only have the standard variable rate for the remainder of the term. Does anyone know how I can improve on this? I now live in Australia (I didn't add that just to brag!). thanks Gerry

mortgage
We have 4 years left on our mortgage, and are in the process of changing from one lender to another, as our discount has come to an end, why is it that lenders only lend if you have 5 years or more, would it be ok if we were to say we have 5 left, then get a discount for 2 then move it again.
