Tax free savings affecting wife's tax code. Why?
My wife has given up part of her tax allowance in the form
of a marriage allowance, as she works part time and is a non-tax payer. I would
expect her tax code to be 1131N giving her a personal allowance of £11,310 but it
is actually 963N, which my wife has been informed is correct. As she is a non-taxpayer we have much of…

ISA maturing - does this sound like a reasonable idea?
I have £40k maturing in an Isa with the Coventry. Rates they're offering are as per the website for 1,2 and 3 yr rates. Theres also a 5 yr not on website when I looked. The 5 yr is 4.05%. I am thinking of splitting this money in half and putting 20k in the 5 year and 20k in the one year [3.65%] as these 2 options seem the…

Will MSE lobby the government to raise either PSA or ISA allowance?
Inflation is still rising and the BOE is inreasing interest rates sharply and predictions show further rises are inevitable. Banks only pass on interest rates slowly and many new saving products are withdrawn from the market, sometimes after days. However, mortgage rates increase quickly, sometimes the next day after a BOE…
