Hi there, I have a query that does not seem to be answered on any other thread or on the internet at all really... Myself and my fiancee are in the process of buying a house and have saved the deposit in an Help to Buy ISA. We are buying an help to buy new build so have to pay a 5% deposit, which in this case is £7500. We…

If I sell a share in my stock & share ISA can I reinvest without using up my ISA allowance?
Hi, Say I have some stocks in my stocks and shares ISA and I have not used up any of my 20K allowance for this years' ISA. Then I decide to sell 5K worth of stocks I currently hold. My question is - does this mean I can invest 25K (20K+5K) this financial year? Thanks in advance

Downing Crowd - p2p bonds (IFISA eligible)
Hi all I am looking at Downing Crowd - they are a crowdfunding platform offering a range of asset-backed bonds, and where appropriate they will endeavour to make these available in the IFISA. After searching the web, I wasn't able to find reviews about them - has any of you invested with them and what was the experience…

Rate setter IF Isa
Am I right in assuming that if I open a rate setter IF Isa, I can still open another cash ISA this tax year? Also I presume the IF Isa will count towards your 20k annual subscription max over all forms of ISA - Lisa, If Isa, Cash isa, Stocks Isa etc? Thanks

Help To Buy ISA's
I previously opened a Help to Buy ISA and deposited some money into it and then had to take the money out without claiming the government bonus so my ISA is now empty. Am I able to close this Help to Buy ISA and reopen a new one so that I can deposit the initial £1200 again? I have never owned a home and will need as much…

Newbie on HTB v LISA
Hello All, Excuse my ignorance as their maybe many threads regarding this and I claim to be no expert, but if someone can help it would be much appreciated. Thinking about opening one of the two.. HTB or LISA. I see the help to buy isa interest (2.35%) is higher than the Skipton Lisa rates (0.75%). I'm not in a massive…

5 yr Fixed rate ISA
5 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA It's the start of the new tax year and I'm looking where to put my £20K this time. Tempted by the Halifax 5yr Fixed at 2.25%, my other option is topping up a 1yr fixed with Virgin at 1.5% I won't need the money in the next 5 years so I suppose what I'm really asking is...what would everyone else…

Shares ISA to Cash ISA Transfer problem
Hi Over the past 12 months I've watched my L&G Share ISA drop month by month and I've decided I need a safe haven for it. I have a Virgin Cash ISA which seems as good a place as any. However, the Virgin transfer in form doesn't cater for my specifying exactly which L&G funds and how much of each, that I want to transfer.…

Nationwide HTB ISA 2%
I've had this for a year now, can I just continue paying into it this tax year too (£200 month, also have their cash ISA so I can split funds across both) or was it only for a year / will the rate be reduced? Thanks

LISA - Any monthly limits?
For the help-to-buy ISA, there is a monthly 200 limit (apart from the first 1000) and if you miss you lose out. Is there any monthly limits or losing out if you don't contribute for the LISA too if you are savings for a first home? I ask this because the government says it pays bonus monthly from the 18/19 tax year. So,…

Funding a Help to Buy
My student daughter has just opened a HTB ISA (2.6% variable) with the intention of funding by drip feeding it from a savings account. Now she has realised, by being a savvy saver, all her savings are in an Instant Access ISA paying 0.2%. Obviously losing 0.2% isnt going to break the bank especially as it will be going…

Multiple Lifetime ISAs? HMRC bonus failure!
Apologies if this has been asked already, I have scanned the most recent posts and have not found an answer. I opened a Nutmeg S&S Lifetime ISA early this tax year (2017/18) and deposited the minimum of £100 to start my 'Lifetime ISA clock' ticking. I opened a Skipton Lifetime ISA in February 2018 and successfully…

Opening a new ISA quickly
Hi folks, Anyone have experience of a provider that does the ISA process quickly, as in immediately :P? Not the end of the world but I applied for a Nationwide ISA yesterday assuming it would be done immediately and I could deposit. But all I've done is 'applied' and they'll send me details through the post at some…

HTB --> LISA transfer in new tax year
Apologies if this has been asked already. I understand that HTB transfers into a LISA from now on will take up annual LISA allowance, is that correct? I currently have around 6k in a HTB. 1) if I wanted to transfer my HTB to a LISA I would only be able to transfer a maximum 4k of it, leaving 2k of it in HTB, and I would…

AJ Bell - HTB interest included in Lifetime ISA Contribution?
Hello, I transferred my Help to Buy ISA from Halifax after the interest was paid on my savings into a new Lifetime ISA. I had made contributions of £1,600 in the year into the Help to Buy. I had expected to be able to top this up by £2,400 once the Lifetime ISA was open. However, AJ Bell says I can only pay in £2,193 as…

Question regarding Bed & Breakfasting Stocks bought at higher price - Tax implications
Hi All I bought a stock earlier in January this year. The stock is currently 50% down and I am thinking of using the Bed and Breakfast method to transfer 20k of these stocks in my ISA allowance on 6th April. I am hopeful that the stocks will recover this year - however for the purpose of tax returns , can I claim a capital…

Skipton cash LISA
Hi there, not sure if this question has been asked already somewhere on here, but couldn't find it. In tax year 18/19, the bonus on the Skipton cash LISA is paid monthly, so if I were to pay in the maximum £4k on April 6, would I get 1 twelfth of the government bonus per month, on £4k, in the same way I would if…

ISA for both Funds and Shares?
Hi folks, I'm new to investing in stocks and am looking for a suitable ISA to hold investments in. I'm after an ISA that offers me the opportunity to invest in funds to give me a diversified portfolio but that will also enable me to have a bit of fun and buy individual shares too. Everything that I've seen so far seems to…

What is included in calculation for PSA ?
I am trying to decide if I should take out a cash ISA or not this year. It appears to be based on whether or not the interest from my savings in a year is over £1000 (as I am a 20% tax payer). I can make this calculation but do not know if I should include interest earned from PEPs. Please can anyone advise me. Many thanks.
