Cash ISA in new tax year with old HTB
Hi I'm sure this question has probably been asked before but I have searched and can't find an answer. I opened a HTB ISA in Feb (so last tax year) and was going to open a Cash ISA, but obviously I'm still contributing to the HTB ISA £200/mo. Some websites state that you can't open one of each in the same tax year and…

Stocks & Shares ISA - HL
Morning, newbie here. I've been meaning to get into some form of investment and was looking at HL who let you open an S&S ISA from £25 a month by DD. Is this a good place for a newbie - who wants to dip his toe in the water - to start? I appreciate that there's a yearly fee of 0.45% but that's fine. My main concern would…

ISA annual allowance
If you had £30K to save, could you put it into two ISA's, even though the annual allowance is £15240? Or would you need to put £15K into a different savings account?

hargreaves lansdown calculator
Does anyone have any method to establish the real return of an HL portfolio, and a few basic analytics? I have tried my best and I can't find any such information on the website. I appreciate that it might be there and I just didn't find it, but I am beginning to doubt it. I was looking for something like the return per…

IF ISAs?
So what is the story with these? There seem to only be a handful of providers offering them - are the rest still waiting for FCA approval? From 6 April 2017 am I correct that we can subscribe to 4 different ISAs?: -Cash -S&S -IFISA -H2B/LISA With a combined limit of £20k with a £4k limit for the LISA?

Help to buy ISA hiccup
Son has just made a boo boo and transferred 70 into his help to buy isa instead of his current account. It's a few days before he should be paying in the monthly 200 - has he messed up his chances of getting the bonus now or can he just transfer in the remaining 130 when its due?

Merge Santander ISAs
I have two Santander ISAs which I haven't paid into or taken money out of during the 2016/17 financial year. Apologies if this is a silly question but am I able to merge the two ISAs into one and if so, when would be the best time to actually do it? Am I also able to them contribute the ISA allowance of £15,240 into the…

Deficit On Stocks And Shares ISA
Hello, I've got about £9,000 in a S&S ISA with Charles Stanley for a couple of years now. The other day I received an email, saying that following the deduction of platform fees, I now had a deficit of £30 on my account and needed to pay money in now to cover it. Can anyone explain why or if I need to do this. Thanks in…

h2b ISA plus s&s LISA = keeping them concurrently
Hi, just a random thought I had on reading up on the LISA due to come in next year. I'm going to be opening a h2b ISA soon, no plans to buy for a good few years. I earn a modest wage, so I'm unlikely to hit the upper limits of what I can save in any accounts - I'm currently 35, so would probably be buying very late 30's,…

Temp savings 35k
Hi everyone We are currently remortgaging and releasing some equity for an extension. I'm going to have 35k sat around for a while so I was wondering is there an account I can open to maybe gain some interest or anything clever I can do with the money? I don't know how long we'll have it but I want to be smart with it if I…

Have you ever tried a robo advisor or artificial intelligence to invest?
Hello, Seems these kind of services are very new. Basically, rather than having a fund managed by a human, there is a computer program or algorithm that does it, using AI and/or Big Data, and because of that fees are smaller. At the moment I only know one that offers an ISA, this one (check the diagram and play with those…

Why are HelpToBuy ISA variable rates so much better than standard variable ISA rates?
Obviously the main thing about the Help To Buy product is the government bonus, but the interest rate being offered on them is magnitudes higher than that on the same provider's regular variable cash ISAs (eg Halifax: 2% versus 0.3%, Natwest: 2% versus 0.01%). What forces are at work here? Is the government subsidising the…

ISA advice
At 25 with quite a bit of saving it's getting near that time to starting thinking on a house, I was planning to open an ISA help to buy account, but noticed the lifetime ISA account, would I be better holding out to April? I'm not planning to buy for a few years yet but is building eligible for the bonus? And could both…

Save to buy ISA's
So, in March 2012 I opened a save to buy ISA. I was happy with the account. Paid 2.5% and interest was paid in September a toatl of £20,000 can be saved alone with the possibility of being able to obtain a nationwide 5% deposit mortgage. Back in December 2015, Nationwide wrote to me to tell me the account was changing to a…

Is ISA status really worth protecting?
Me again. I am a financial newbie so apologise AGAIN for my ignorance. ======================================================== I have £50k currently held as cash under the "ISA wrapper". Seems I cannot get more than 1% in an ISA savings account but I see I can get 1.31% with Charter. That's £680 a year compared with £500…

USD - GBP Exchange Rate & Sharesave
Hi Everyone, This is my first post here, as I normally find answers to everything I need to know by searching but can't in this instance. I'm currently saving £50 a month into a 3 year sharesave scheme with an option to buy a set number of shares in the American company I work for at a set price in GBP, not the USD that…
