DIY S&S Isa: for regular income?
Hi there, I'm intending to move some savings into S&S ISAs and if possible I'd like to educate myself sufficiently to be able to take the DIY approach. I would want the fund to produce a regular income, preferably from the start. Obviously, the income would initially be small but would grow as I placed more funds inside…

Natwest Cash ISA and e-ISA
I bank with Natwest and have an old Cash ISA that I withdrew all my savings out of (£5000) as the %rate was so low, I then transferred it to their e-savings account getting 1%AER. A couple of months ago I added £70 to my cash ISA by mistake and quickly moved it to my e-savings. I'm now having a look at their e-ISA and it…

Stocks and Shares ISA
I have held a Stocks and Shares ISA for 15 years. Growth has been poor and the current value is just slightly more than I have invested over the years. I am now at retirement age. My question is, after 15 years, should I sell all my shares or transfer to another company in the hope of better growth. I do not need the cash…

How much it costs to raise a child
Hi everyone, I spotted this whilst browsing for info on the Junior ISA. https://www.fidelity.co.uk/investor/junior-isa/cost-of-raising-child-calculator.page It's a pretty cool infographic on the cost of raising a child. Who knew that raising a child would be the most expensive between the age of 18-21! ;-)

Cash Isa for Kids, Halifax 6% any good?
Hi, I'm looking for somewhere to put my kids savings. At present they have Nationwide accounts paying 0.75%. Nationwide have suggested a fix term saving account offering 3.75% But they would be locked in till they are 18. (4 & 7 years). Now looking around i see that Halifax are offering a Kids Isa paying 6% if the adult on…

Easy Access ISA question . . . . .
Hi . . . . . . . I have not yet subscribed to any ISA in the 2012/13 tax year . . . can I open a new easy access ISA with the Post Office (3.01%) now (full £5640 allowance plus £2k transfer in) and then in April 2013 transfer the lot in to a new ISA hopefully with a better rate of interest? * Is it allowed? * Will the Post…

Post Office Premier Cash ISA
According to the savings page on the main site, the Post Office seem to be offering the highest interest on ISAs right now. At the moment I have around £16k in a Northern Rock ISA. I think the higher rate on this ends in April, so I'm looking around for something to transfer my existing balance. Heres my problem... The…

S&S Isa Novice trying to open one
Here's my situation, for years I've nurtured my savings with bonds and cash isa's, a few months ago my wife and I inherited a large 50K + lump sum, so with rates being low and never being exposed to stocks and shares ( I roughly about shares pro's and cons and charges etc ) I thought I could just pop along to a bank or…

Cash ISA Options
Hi, I opened a cash ISA with Metro, fixed rate of 3.25%, I opened it with with £1000, transferred my previous years Northern Rock ISA, and transferred an additional £800 in. They tell me that I can't pay any more in, as they only allow 1 transfer per year, so this year I have paid in £1,800, what are my options? I guess I…

Have I got this right?
I'm now in my second year of having a scraping of savings. Well done me. Last year I put about £2k into a Halifax ISA that was the best buy at the time, but has now plummeted to 0.5%. So, time to transfer. It is likely that I will have further money to invest this year, although again, we're not talking fortunes! Am I…

Swapping Isa's advice please.
Hi, I have a question about swapping isa's. I have a bog standard isa with Halifax and want to swap to one wih ing as it has a better rate. The ing bank doesn't let you transfer in from any isa. If I opened the ing Isa could I just write to Halifax and cancel the one with them? There is nothing in the account. Thanks :-)

What are the risks of buying my ISA through a 'supermarket'?
I've read all the guides and think a 'supermarket'/discount broker sounds like a good idea to buy my allowance for this year. I was just wondering if there are any risks to be aware of, the supermarkets don't exactly highlight their risks. How is my investment actually held? Is the money protected? I'm not talking regular…

UK Gilts in ISAs
I see H & L are offering a range of ISAs based on UK Gilts. Returns range depending on which ISA you choose but are generally from 0% to 13% ish. I'm considering the M&G and the AXA Framlington with the AF being much more volatile. I'm not fully up to speed with Gilts. What do they they vary with? Inflation or Gov Interest…

ISA allowance year to year
I understand that this financial year the tax free allowance is £5,640 and last year was £5,340. I just want confirm that if I transfer last years allowance from my older ISA to the new one which is paying a new rate, I still get to put an additional £5,640 in the new ISA this fiscal and get tax free savings? So in total…

Hold 2 x S&S ISA's, can i add money to both in a single tax year?
As above, i hold 2 x S&S ISA's both of which I havent added to this tax year, can i add to both this year? If so, is it only a total of £10,200 between the 2? Or can I add £10,200 (or whatever the limit is now) to both, theoretically investing £21k in shares between now and april 2013? Thanks in advance
