Transfer of ~£8,000 and subsequent deposits into a new ISA
Hi, Can someone enlighten me as to whether I am allowed to transfer ~£8,000 into a new cash ISA (say Santander Direct) from my old Natwest one, and then subsequently invest my £5,640 cash limit this tax year? The wording of conditinos for the new ISAs are not clear on that distinction between transfer limit, opening limit…

Hi, I've accumulated £14k over the years into a Capital Guaranteed Bond which is performing rubbishly. I'm going to transfer it. I've started up my own Stocks and Shares Portfolio and a new Cash Isa. I've already put my allowance into the cash Isa for this year. it accepts transfers in. So i'm going to transfer the…

Paying-In Time-Limit?
Last year i opened an ISA with Northern Rock. I opened the account with £90 with a view to adding in more as the years went on. A little from each paycheck. I cocked up apparently, with the minimum amount being £500 and me not getting enough money into the account in time. I then received an interest rate of 0.10% as…

Fixed or variable rate - which is best?
Hello, I hope someone can help me with this, and with some decisions me and my husband are trying to make. I understand that a fixed rate ISA guarantees a certain interest rate over a period of time, and that withdrawals are not allowed without closing the ISA and paying an interest penalty. With a variable rate, I know…

Cheshire BS Cash ISA 2012/13
Hey, new poster here. On Martin's recommendation I opened a Cheshire BS cash ISA on 1st April - sent off all the paperwork and the deposit (via cheque) has left my account. I haven't received anything from the Cheshire via email or post - has anyone else had the same experience? There might be a backlog but it's…

Please help me understand my ISA's
Hello I setup a Barclays ISA last year and as I wasn't planning on significant savings, filled it up to the max, withdrew some etc. Left with a total balance of £3500 and I can't put anymore in - maxed out. I've just taken out a new ISA with Barclays and am starting to put money into it (1k so far). I have a regular saver…

Natwest eISA rate reduction
I have had an eISA from Natwest for a couple of years and in February had a letter saying that the interest rate would remain at 3.25% for balances over £30K. Great, I thought and put this years allowance in the ISA. I then get a letter this morning saying that the rate is going down to 3.01%, while still not a bad rate,…

Santander ISA funds not received - error letter.
Just a heads up for anyone else that receives this 'Technical error letter' I transferred my Barclays ISA to Santander and received a letter dated 22nd March informing me that the funds had been received by them. I logged into Santander to confirm the ISA was showing - it was. Today, I received a letter from them dated…

Cash ISA - Self Transfer Rule
Another thread got me thinking about something, the below is an extract from the HMRC guidance on ISAs: 12.33 An cash ISA is closed for this purpose when all the funds held in the ISA are withdrawn (including any subscriptions for earlier years) and no further subscriptions…

Transfer times? A bit worried?
I opened a Santander 2-year fixed-rate cash ISA on 6th April with the intention of transfering in two Barclays Cach ISA's that had gone over their introductory bonus rates. I filled two transfer forms in and posted them on 7th April. On 18th April I noticed that both ISA's had disappeared from Barclays online banking. I…

Santander transfer form - small print
Hi, I have just used the Santander ISA transfer form to transfer my old ISA to a new Santander cash ISA. On the form I had to sign a declaration which included the following paragraph: I apply to subscribe for a Cash ISA for the tax year 2012/2013 and each subsequent tax year until further notice. (This doesn't commit you…

ISA - Is it allowed ??
Hi All I have subscribed and used up all of my ISA allowances (e.g. £5640) for this tax year in “Bank A”. It is a flexible ISA where I could withdraw it anytime I want to. In the meanwhile I also have another flexible ISA in Bank B accumulated from previous year subscription which has been reached close to certain amount.…

Natwest ISA interest rate change - get out clause ?
Hi, I have several years worth of ISA in an old NatWest Cash ISA Plus account which has for years paid 3.01. I have today received a letter stating that they are dropping the rate to 2.70%. I have never transfered ISAs before so I apologise in advance if this is a silly question: Unfortunately Ive already deposited some…

Natwest eISA
I have just transferred my Natwest eISA to another provider and noticed when I look online at the Natwest account information the final interest amount has been taken from this years allowance, ie £40 interest leaving me with £5600 for the rest of 2012/13. Has anybody else noticed this and if so is this…

Principality 3.1% ISA
Hi all, I've just opened the Principality 3.1% ISA online this afternoon and am planning to transfer in my maxed-out easy-access NS&I ISA (paying 2.5%) and easy-access Santander ISA (bonus payment coming to an end next month). I was basically just wondering if anyone else is opening the Principality one or has any feedback…

views on BM 5 year inflation rate ISA 4.3% or RPI whichever higher
I just noticed on another thread someone saying they thought this Birmingham Midshire ISA should be on the top ISA table. Can I ask if it's a good punt or better sticking with the Halifax 4.5% for 5 years? The 5 year inflation rate ISA (issue 3) is a 5 year deposit based cash ISA, which uses the annual rate of inflation…

Cheshire Building Society ISA
My wife and I applied for a Cheshire Building Society cash ISA for the 2011/12 year, which was a top rated and highly publicised product. We applied online on 30th March and sent the form plus cheque to the address requested on the morning of the 31st March. We each sent separate forms in different envelopes, but they were…

Halifax to Santander ISA transfer problem
I recently transferred all but £5000 of my Halifax Direct Reward 4 ISA to the Santander 3.3% instant access deal. About two weeks later I got a letter back saying that they could not accept it as I had contributed to the other ISA this tax year (ie. 2012/2013) so they had sent the cheque back to Halifax. I rang them…
