New Hsbc E-isa
I applied to open an e-isa on the HSBC website last Tuesday morning. On the declaration which I have printed it states that I will be able to view the account online within 3 working days. It is now the end of Monday - day 4 and I still can't see it. Has anyone else had theirs opened? Also the £1 initial deposit hasn't…

Beware transferring ISA to Nationwide
If you are wanting to buy the attractively-priced Nationwide Fixed Rate ISA Bond at 6.15% and you are transferring the funds from another bank/building society, be very careful. I tried to do this today and was told by Nationwide that, despite all ads on their site and sites like this, the rate of 6.15 % is NOT guaranteed.…

ISA problem
I currently have just over £10,000 invested in ISAs in Halifax, all from previous years. At the moment I only get 5.25% on these ISAs, so this year I decided to transfer them to an ISA account in another bank. Last week I opened a Premier 21 current account with Alliance and Leicester which allowed me to open a high…

Barclay's Tax Saver ISA - Another fiasco
I received my letter informing me that I could open a new Tax Saver ISA from 6th April. I have just walked 2 miles down to the bank to open a new ISA clutching all my identification details. The bank had a notice saying new ISAs could only be opened with an appointment. The earliest was for Wednesday. I was told that as I…

Is the Halifax 4 year Fixed @ 6.2% a good idea for someone who doesn't need access?
Hello. I welcome a little advice... I currently have 2 ISAs from previous year: * £6500 at 5.76% in Kent & Reliance * £3000 @ 5.3% in NS&I Total= £9500 I'm looking to invest in a new cash ISA (£3600) for this year. I don't need access to the total of £13100. In this case, is the Halifax ISA (4year fixed at 6.2%) a good…

Which is the best ISA to invest £11,600?
I have £8,000 in my current ISA (Halifax %5.25) and £3,600 ready and waiting in my current account. It is looks like I lost the opportunity to transfer to Lloyds TSB %6.5 for over £9,000:confused: Some providers are pay interest only when the ISA transfer is complete. As it can take 30 days for the transfer it may be…

Why have Barclays taken so long to open my ISA?
Being a Barclays online banker and having to taken Martins advice to open an ISA. I decided to make the obvious choice and filled out the relevant forms online to open a Barclays tax haven ISA. I did this on the 30th March and would therefore have assumed to be ok for the 2007-2008 tax year. However I received a letter in…

Icesave ISA oddities.
Hi, I am just about to pay my first 2008/2009 cash into the Icesave ISA I set up a month or so ago and noticed this:* The maximum you may subscribe to a Cash ISA in the 2008/2009 tax year is £3,600. * If this is the first time you are making a subscription to your Easy Access ISA in the 2008/2009 tax year, under HMRC rules…

Abbey - Are transfers between ISA issues possible?
Good morning to all. This may be an easy question. I bank with the Abbey. My money is currently in a direct ISA, into which I transferred my Abbey Easy ISA last year. I notice now that Abbey advertise a direct ISA issue 2. This pays 6.25% for one year, before reverting to a tiered interest structure. Unfortunately I've…

Time taken to transfer ISA
I recently transfered my ISA from Halifax to Lloyds TSB. Halifax wrote to say it had sent a cheque to Lloyds on 31st March, today I recieved a letter from Lloyds saying that the sum had been credited to my ISA on 10th April. 10 days seems to me an excessive length of time,in previous transfers to other societies, there…

How much is it worth switching for?
Regarding ISAs, I have read on some providers websites that it can take up to 30 days for funds to be transferred from previous providers. My question is this: What time period is there between your account being closed at one provider and the funds arriving into the new account? And will the new interest rate more than…
