Abbey - Are transfers between ISA issues possible?

Good morning to all.
This may be an easy question.
I bank with the Abbey. My money is currently in a direct ISA, into which I transferred my Abbey Easy ISA last year.
I notice now that Abbey advertise a direct ISA issue 2. This pays 6.25% for one year, before reverting to a tiered interest structure.
Unfortunately I've just missed out on the Lloyds TSB 6.5% fixed rate ISA deal which closed on Friday
My question - can I transfer between ISA issues (ie from Direct ISA issue 1 to Direct ISA issue 2), or are they treated as the same type of ISA product by the Bank?
My gut feel tells me that it is not possible, but then again you never know
I'll try to contact Abbey next week, but I detest ringing call centres on 0845 numbers, and I can't visit my branch until Friday.
Can anyone advise in the meanwhile?
