Fencing
Hi there last year I had my fence replaced and stupidly did not think about treating my studio at the same time. The fencing company were good and I’m getting them to quote for replacing a 2nd fence and I mentioned would it be possible to have the 1st fence panel removed whilst they were there so I could treat the studio…

New fencing - what if we can't agree with neighbour?
We’ve lived in our semi-detached house for c 30years. About 20 years ago it was clear that the rear garden fence between us and the
neighbouring property (not the one we’re adjoined to) needed replacement. Our
neighbour was in full agreement but not financially in a position to
contribute. This wasn’t an issue as we were…

Repressuring combi-boiler after bleeding radiators with filling loop....?
Hi, need some help please. After ignorantly bleeding the radiators as the bathroom one was always stone cold, the pressure has dropped to just below 0.5 on the boiler, when it's meant to be between 1.0 - 1.5 bar, I believe? I have a filling loop but not sure what to do with it. The combi boiler is a Worcester GreenStar HE,…

Fascia, soffit and guttecleaning - off a ladder
What's the quickest way to clean uPVC fascia and soffits and aluminium gutters without a pressure washer? It's covered in green algae and hasn't been done for years. I was thinking of using Screwfix No Nonsense Degreaser. It's a 4 bed detached and I can't spend all day doing them. Thanks in advance.

Never tried before but I really fancy attempting to fit a couple internal doors into existing frames. Looking at it seems quite straightforward but might struggle with fitting the handles and barrel. Do I need an architect for my extension?
Hi all, I'm in the early stages of looking into a two storey rear extension, I would look to knock down the conservatory and build the extension in the same footprint. I have spoken to a couple of builders for a ballpark figure and they only seem interested if I have drawings. It's a bit frustrating as I want to know if I…

What is this socket/cable in my lounge?
The process of Martin discovering his new house continues very slowly :disappointed: What is this socket for, and what is this cable for? I am assuming TV related, at least one of them, the cable seems to have 2 end bits that look the same as the socket..!

Replacing Radiators - column or convection, double, single, BTUs!?
Hi, all my current radiators seem to be old connection ones, just a single panel on the front with some small fins on the back, no casing. Most of the TRVs are broken, and I thought maybe it was worth replacing the rads when getting new TRVs. Its a victorian house so I'd ideally like to get some more traditional column…

DIY Damp Proof Course...bad idea?
Hello, We are struggling to get a quote for a damp proof course in the cupboard under our stairs. I’m thinking the trades are thinking it’s too small of a job.
