Cable staples for electrical cable
We have just moved into a house which is severely lacking in electrical sockets and the 1 double socket that does exist is invariably always in the worst possible location. We will get an electrician in to put in some extra sockets in pretty much every room in due course. In the interim we're using a couple of extension…

Drinking water filter taps - which one?
I've previously been happy drinking tap water. SWMBO has drank bottled water for a long time. In an effort to cut down cost and wastage, I've suggested the idea of fitting a filtered tap, which swmbo has agreed to. We used to have one in my parental home so I recall the need to change cartridges every six months. Are there…

Beliani Beds?
Hi, We want to purchase a new bed but we are restricted to a few brands because of the size (160 width). Googling I've come accross this brand which I like the look of but I can't find any reviews. Has anyone bought from them? We only need the frame, already got a new mattress a few months ago, and we are looking for an…

Leekes Kitchens
Hello My and wife and I went into Leekes in Coventry at the weekend and we really liked the Sheraton range and the option of 0% finance. The problem is there are not that many reviews for them that I can find. Those that I can find either very positive or very negative. Has anybody on this forum used Leekes for their new…

Temporary covering up wallpaper
I'm moving into a new rented property next month and the landlord has said I'm not allowed to paint over/wallpaper a wall in 1 of the bedrooms that has some really old fashioned floral wallpaper on one of the walls. Is there anything out there that can be used as temporary cover and easily removed if needed without…

Using loft in a new build house. Builders opinion please
We have been told in our New Build that we have just bought that we cannot use our loft for storage as its something to do with the way it is built. Cavity wall insulation removal
Hi, We had cavity wall insulation installed (loose wool fibre type) in 2007. Around 2015 I started noticing severe damp problems in the living room only. The damp was either side of the window 2metres high including at the corners of the room from floor up. I re-rendered the outside wall and during that time I believe I…

Central heating control broken - replace with Nest?
My block had a power cut for several hours the other day and when the power came back on my central heating control seemed completely dead. The boiler (Vaillant ecoTEC plus 831) and thermostat (Honeywell DT90E) seem fine and the hot water is working but the LCD display on the heating programmer (Danfoss TS715SI) is blank…

Bathroom floor advice
Good Evening, I'm in the process of putting back together an empty shell bathroom. I plan to tile the bathroom floor that currently has 22mm floorboards in. I don't really like the idea of laying another thick layer of solid board on top to give a sturdy base in order to tile which will give even more of a step up into the…

Which grout colour with white gloss wall tiles?
I am to have some white gloss wall tiles installed. I had assumed it would be best to use white grout with these. I happened to see a tv show recently in which someone mentioned that their wall tiles had been installed with a slightly darker grout and that this means it will be easier to maintain the clean look of the…
