Bathroom floor advice

Good Evening,
I'm in the process of putting back together an empty shell bathroom.
I plan to tile the bathroom floor that currently has 22mm floorboards in. I don't really like the idea of laying another thick layer of solid board on top to give a sturdy base in order to tile which will give even more of a step up into the room.
I can easily replace the boards in the room, would it be advisable and what should i replace them with in order to tile directly on?
Thanks
