I need a good vacuum cleaner as I've got a Labrador that constantly moults. Downstairs is laminate flooring and upstairs is carpet so ideally need something that will be effective on both. Thought I could save up now and maybe grab a bargain in the January sales.

I live in a terraced house. I'm trying to find a fridge freezer that will fit in my pantry under the stairs. It can't be kept elsewhere. The one we have has a freezer that isn't big enough and we gave a child on the way end of this year. Any ideas which type of freezer we could get? It needs to be deep and cannot go any…

Boundary dispute - Land Registry Representative help please
We purchased our home twenty years ago on a new development. The neighbouring property has recently been sold to a housing association. The day after completion they gave us seven days to remove a fence which they claimed was incorrectly situated and there was a portion of land belonging to their property. We were able to…

RSJ (UB) estimation
Before embarrassing myself getting builders etc, is there a rule of thumb for beam installation. Along the lines of 1500 per m2 for an extension. I want to extend out the back of my house, and support the upstairs back wall of the house. The span would be about 10m

Height of bath screen is 1400mm - high enough?
I have been considering purchasing a bath screen which is 1400 mm in height (see pic below). Since this means the overhead shower head will be above the top of the bath screen, I wonder if water will be emitted over the top of the screen. Do you think a bath screen should be greater in height than 1400 mm? Also what height…

Fence Paint and Paving Slabs!!!
I know this has probably been asked before but I'm hoping for some advice. I painted my fence today and although I covered the majority of the paving with plastic sheeting etc the paint still splashed onto some of the paving stones. At the time I wiped the residue paint off but after finishing the painting you can still…

concrete or timber gravel boards
I'm having a new fence put up using concrete posts and close board fencing. I've been quoted for timber gravel boards but wondering if, in the long run, it would be better to go for concrete ones? I didn't have either with the old fence so don't know if it makes that much difference. I'm guessing that timber ones would…

re-laying paving setts
Different people call them different things. The brick size paving setts. Are you supposed to have a little gap between them when you put them down? Is this acceptable? I've never seen it before so i'd say no, but then i'm no expert in this & can only go off what i've seen before - which has been no gap. Where I live we…

I don't like how my carpet was fitted.
Hi, I recently had a new carpet fitted, the exact same as the adjacent room. It's a solid colour carpet but somehow the light has a massive impact on how the colour appears and one room is cream and the other beige but when you bring samples together it is exactly the same colour. When the carpet was fitted in the larger…

Hi all, I have bought a towel rail where the inlets are on the bottom. The previous radiator had side inlets. I understand if I have to change the actual valves then I need to drain the whole…
