concrete or timber gravel boards

I'm having a new fence put up using concrete posts and close board fencing. I've been quoted for timber gravel boards but wondering if, in the long run, it would be better to go for concrete ones? I didn't have either with the old fence so don't know if it makes that much difference. I'm guessing that timber ones would eventually rot and have to be replaced. Or maybe they are more durable than I thought. Any advice would be great.

You're right the timber ones will need replacing concrete will last for many years to come.0

Decent wood boards will do 20y+0

With concrete posts, I'd probably just use concrete gravel boards.0

Actually, a number of my 20 year old concrete ones have 'blown' along the internal steel reinforcement and split in half.0

Oh, I didn't realise concrete ones could split. Maybe they don't last any longer than timber.0

Generally, concrete will outlive wood by a considerable margin. It's not pretty, but it's great at what it does.0
