Has anyone else had pure acrylic shrink on them?
I've had 2 different coloured Primark v neck jumpers of the same style shrink in the washer / dryer. They are 100% acrylic but shrunk signifcantly. I thought acrylic as a man made fibre (as opposed to known risk of cotton and wool as I understand it) wasn't meant to shrink. I am getting wary of putting things in for the…

Small portable heater
Looking for a small portable heater for over winter. I would like it to be quiet so I have been checking out oil filled radiators. We live in a solid wall house and won't be upgrading our radiators until next summer so this is just a temporary measure. Any recommendations? Idea of running cost? Thanks, C

vacuum buying
Well I have obviously got to the grand old age where buying a new vacuum is a necessity (and also quite excited about finally being able to have clean floors/carpets without having to use a dustpan & brush or a damp cloth on the rug!) We have 2 kittens and I regularly lose my hair too :( , we only have 1 carpet in our box…

Extension cable with 5 amp cable
A friend of mine has a 2 metre mains extension cable with a 3 amp fuse and what looks like thin lighting flex. It has a 13 amp plug at one end and a 13 amp socket at the other end. She was changing the 3amp fuse which had blown. She told me she occasionally uses it for her toaster. That could be why the fuse blew. I…

Hi, I live in an old 3 bed terrace house with an antiquated central heating system and single glazed wooden windows; having now payed off the mortgage I'm in a good financial position to upgrade both the heating & windows. difference between solid wood floor and engineered?
We are thinking of doing our ground floor, ie kitchen, lounge, dinning room and hall in solid wood and I am assuming solid wood is the best but I am wondering about the engineered stuff as you do get a few mm on top of solid wood and it is cheaper. I can't see us wearing away through the top layer of the engineered unless…

Making a Room Divider out of Trellises
Hi forum, so I wanted an inexpensive room divider so I grabbed some cheap Trellis's, the only problem I have now is figuring out how to keep them upright? Cold room with flat roof. Ideas? Ceiling curtain?
Hi. We have a five year old flat roof over the houses extension. The walls have been insulated but the room is freezing so guess the warmth is escaping upwards. Any cheapish tips for this? I've seen a caravan with like a sheet hanging across the ceiling, would this do much? Thanks
