Paving advice
Hi, I am going to be paving directly in front of our house from a bay window out to about a distance of 1metre. I have practically read all of pavingexpert.com so have prepared quite a bit. One question though is to do with exiting paving slabs. How do I remove. I am trying to keep costs down so trying not to hire tools or…

Which Magnetic CH Filter?
I was just about to purchase a Spirotech Spirotrap MB2, and now I see that they have launched the MB3 model (the one with the external removable magnet). Has anyone any experience of either (good or bad), and is the MB3 worth the tenner or so extra?

Neighbours fence (sorry...i know its common!)
My neighbours fence is basically falling apart. Whilst I realise its on his land etc, the fence keeps falling into my conservatory and garden, he then just props it back up with insecure posts. The panels are now exposing rusty nails also. We have a 4 year old that I'm keeping out of the garden because of the fear of the…

Some rads have stopped working unless others are off
I noticed that two out of three downstairs rads were barely emitting any heat. After checking the TRVs were working ok (they seem to be) I tried turning off all the other radiators. It was only then that the two non working rads started heating up. Upstairs is cold. Why???

Rattling radiator
Hi, I have a 2 year old twin panel large rad that rattles when the boiler reheats the water circulating. It sounds like something runs up the side of the rad when the water flows in. I know it's not air because I've bled it and no air comes out, I've bled others too and there's no air in them. The rattling only happens…

Bleeding radiator turns into flame thrower...
Had a problem with the kitchen radiator for a while now in that it needs bled far too frequently, ie maybe twice a week. I read somewhere about holding an upturned cup to collect the air and try light it see if it goes pop, this would be a sign of corrosion. Was in the process of trying this today, when i struck the match…

Leak under bath but can't get to it
Hi I moved into this house 6 months ago. The bath panel is tiled with the same tiles as on the floor. I don't know how it's been fixed although it is sealed around the edges. I don't know where the tiles come from. There is a small leak showing on the lounge ceiling under the bath. I've asked a plumber to come but does…

LED or Halogen?
Hi, I'm looking for a floodlight that will come on when I come into my garden from both the back gate and back door. They are about 15m apart. The PIR on the current light is awful - it only activates when I am halfway up or down the garden which is pretty pointless. So I need something with a very wide PIR angle, and will…

how quickly does your house heat up
Many people on here i have noticed question how long and how much gas people use to heat up their house, especially when heating up from cold ie no heat for several days. Once when i came back from a winter holiday it took 2 or 3 days to get up to 21C with the heating on all day. The house was i think about 8C to start…

Fence divide Ownership
I hope someone can give me a quick bit of advice here. I live/own in a ground floor flat. There is one private owner above me. Our back garden is split vertically down the middle, with me owning the left-side strip. My (left-side) next door neighbour's garden is split similarly. And a fence divides our 2 gardens. This next…

Grouting in bathroom cracking
Hi everyone, We had our shower cubicle retiled c6months ago. It seems the guys who did it weren't the best as we've already asked on here about cracking grout where the bottom of the tiles met the shower tray. We siliconed that. We've now got cracked grout in the corner where the two tiled walls meet. We're really paranoid…
