Green Lighting
LED lighting was featured on the Afternoon Show in Ireland last week. Apparantly it takes up much less energy than normal light bulbs and gives off a nicer light than normal environmental light bulbs. - see http://www.rte.ie/tv/theafternoonshow/story/1092169.html The feature focussed on how green the product was. But does…

Laminate Floor advice
Hi all I'd like to put a laminate floor down in my lounge. Never done it before. My house is a new build and the lounge is a nice rectangular shape with only the door and the fireplace to work round. I've got several questions which I'm hoping others can help with: 1) What's the best underlay? The 7mm felt boards from B&Q…

TV repair in Staffordshire
Can anyone recommend a TV repair company in Staffordshire, ideally around the Lichfield/Burntwood/Cannock area? Free estimates would be nice too. Need a TV looking at to see if it's worth repairing or replacing. A Toshiba 32" CRT widescreen of 5yrs has decided it doesn't like the eurovision song contest and has clapped out…

Artex Ceilings
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of getting rid of Artex ceilings on the cheap. We have quite high ceilings so I was thinking of putting some battens through the artex into the ceiling joists and sheeting a new ceiling with tape and joint style boards. I'm not bad at patching in plaster with a float so do you…

Hot water - too hot!
Since moving to my new house I have found the hot water to be much too hot. The water is heated in an immersion tank from the central heating boiler. I have tried turning down the thermostat strapped to the immersion heater, currently 50 deg, but it seems to make no difference. It may seem like a foolish question, but is…

Sky Digital TV offer
I phoned Sky recently to cancel (well pretend to) and they offered me their 2 months World Cup deal - which means I keep my existing package (incl Sky Sports + Sky plus) for only 66p (yes £0.66) a month for the next two months. That's saved me £70.68. Not bad I thought. When the two months are up I'll phone back for the…

Hi, I am thinking of treating us to a new Microwave as a surprise. Do I get a combi or not? Always wondered if the combi is as good as deal as they make out and are they harder to clean? Struck me that coventional Micro needs very little cleaning but combi would be more work. Also, does anyone know of any good deals out…
