Please Help-think Our Dishwasher Is Shorting Out Electric Sockets

Hi, wonder if anyone can help please.
everytime we turn our dishwasher on it blows out the RCD.
Have tried several times resetting the circuits, but each time we plug in dishwasher it blows again. OH has cleared out the filter incase clogging caused a power surge?
Still no joy, still blowing the RCD.
The diswasher is a Boosch Exxcel. Any ideas. Thanks ahead.

The dishwasher is faulty and needs looking at by someone that is capable of fixing it, such as an appliance repair man.
Your theory about the power surge is incorrect, if it was a power surge the MCB would trip and not the RCD.
The RCD tripping suggests that there is an earth fault somewhere, often this can be something and nothing or it could be more serious.
I would ring round a few apliance repair men and get their opinions.0 -
thanks for the info. weekend warrior. Here hoping this won't cost too much. After all, we are money savers or else trying.0

Hi,
We had the same problem. Called in a trusted repair man who diagnosed that the element was gone. He had a replacement in his van which he fitted. Whole thing took about an hour and cost £60. It's all been fine since. Not cheap...but much cheaper than a new dishwasher.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
Thanks unsure for your reply.
Does anyone know of any trusted repair men near Chelmsford, Essex.0 -
Check the waste water pipe isn't blocked, mine was and it caused the pump to trip the curcuit breaker.0

My old disherwasher did the same, I took it to bits and found out everything was blocked up so it went to the tip and I bought a new one, the old one had been messing around for ages not cleaning properly or empting so was on the way out anyway. The RCD will trip if you have earth leakage so water is probably getting in to the electrics somewhere. I would consider if it's worth mending as new dishwashers aren't that much to buy, I got a hotpoint FDW60 for £250.Nothing to see here, move along.0
