I want to buy my mum a cordless telephone that will work in a power cut but all the ones I have senn so far need electricity to the base station to work. Is it possible to buy one that switches to DC power in the event of a power cut?

Getting Stung by currency conversion from bank when using paypal.
Basically I buy quite a lot from sites selling in $, I pay with Paypal and until about 2 months ago I would go through the sites checkout in $, Paypal would charge me in $, but then convert it and charge me from by bank in £.
