I haven't but someone on the OS weightloss thread said they had just bought a plain white china plate and painted their own
which would be cheap. It's more a division of food rather than portions - as you might have a quarter of the plate devoted to type of food X but you could pile it six inches high ! :P
tbh the cheapest option is not to buy one at all but just remember the guide is 1/4 plate protein, 1/4 carbs and 1/2 plate veggies/greens/salad." Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -
thanks kittyscarlet.... good thinking... to be honest i do tend to put huge portions on the plate....and we do have big plates.....
plus i tend to 'overlap' food ..on the plate..lol... as i hate waste....Work to live= not live to work0 -
it might be an idea to draw a smaller plate onto your big plates - or to use a sideplate so the plate can look full. Or else just buy a single cheap small plate.
As for hating waste - cook a lot less, and if you happen ot have food left over, use it the next night. Or have a leftovers day/night twice a week.0 -
Aye, if your problem is more portion size than proportion, putting a bit less on the plate in the first place for everyone then saying they can have seconds if they want is probably a better strategy. I personally don't mind rescuing some forms of food from a " used " plate to use as leftovers but some folks do - and its easier then to " recycle " it if still in the cooking pots n pans
