* A decent bagless Vacuum cleaner anyone? *

Options
OK, so I've had enough of buying cheap 'Pro action' or whatever it's called. I'd like a decent hoover, that is small, but powerful enough and strong enough to stand the test of time.

Any ideas?

An un-recommendation - I'm not at all impressed with my Dyson Animal, having replaced an upright Dyson.
  • I picked up a Dyson DC07 Allergy locally for £30 from Ebay.
Managed to view it and test it prior to bidding.... very, very impressed with it.
Especially when it cut out the other month, so i phoned Dyson, who took the serial number and transferred my details on to the the 5 year warranty which has 2 years left to run!
It was only the filter that needed cleaning, but nice to know i've got a couple of years trouble free vacuuming ahead of me.

.... opps didn't see the 'small' bit.

LOL, no worries, thank you both for replying.

It's the storage issue that's the problem, but then, if it turns out a slightly bigger vacuum was a good choice, I might just have to give it some thought.

Have a look at this reconditioned Bissell - Number 8.

I've heard some fantastic review on it.

    Another un-recommendation...

Don't buy the panasonic one with the handle that folds down - the "Fold n Go". Terrible machine - the beater bar has about 4 bristles on it and they fall out, the filter gets blocked after about 15 minutes and the bagless cylinder falls out frequently.

Luckily I only got it as I wanted a bagless one for cleaning up sawdust after the gerbils have been out of their cage - I have a decent machine for actual cleaning!

Sorry I can't give a recommendation for what to buy>

Our dog was a huge Newfoundland cross-the coat was very hard on vaccums as the undercoat was so fine that it weaved around the rollers and did in several cleaners. Thew Dyson Animal was totally useless, then bought a Mercedes pull along rank-that died the death. In despair resorted to reconditioned Hoover Junior's (the ones with cloth bags)-independent vaccum shops sometimes have them but they are like gold dust and sell fast. And the other most durable has been Tesco basic cylinder-plain simple and durable. I think it cost about £30.it has already outlived the Dyson and Mercedes together.

I've had my 'Henry' vac for 19 years now. I've got no complaints and every builder/decorater we've ever employed has owned one too!

I bought a Vax turbo upright a year or so ago after seeing a recommendation & special offer about it on mse & I dumped my heavy old dyson that I coudn't lift to carry upstairs & just hated to use.

My vax performes far better than the pricey dyson ever did & doesn't weigh 15tons as the dyson did so I can actually carry it upstairs. What luxury. :rotfl: :rotfl:
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
