Is this discrimination? Landlord charging higher rent than others..
I live in a flat in Nottingham. I moved in to this flat 4 years ago for a rent of £695/month. The apartments have 12 flats which are similar. I have never checked with other residents about the rent they were paying. But last weekend I came to know from few tenants that they were paying only £550/month. I was shattered and…

Letting agent asking tenant to sign prescribed information forms retrospectively
I moved out of the property about a month ago (as I was served with a section 21 and given 2 months notice) and I am in dispute with the landlord regarding amounts she wants to deduct from the deposit. The deposit is protected by the DPS and as such a dispute has been raised, however I have only recently received a request…

Deed of Trust and Changing Equity
Hello, FTB here and need help understand the complex maths (for me!) of recording equity in a deed of trust. Myself and my partner will be putting in £20k and £80k (respectively), and the mortgage will be £200k. I've done some near rounding for simplicity, and ignore fees/taxes for now. So normally I would expect the…

Chicken Egg Scenario
My solicitor requires I send him a copy of my proposed buildings insurance schedule before I exchange contracts. However, when I try to find insurance none of the quoting companies allow you to contact them before you purchase their insurance. So I'm stuck as to how I can get a schedule without paying for the insurance…

Accommodation was booked with fringeflats.co.uk, at the beginning of June. Last thursday, 18th July, we discovered the site had been deleted and all emails bounced. It…

Property bee shows its been available for rent for 10 days - price reduced today. Is haggling on monthly rental the done thing? Or do you just accept the price its up…

Making a low offer (based on work required) when house has already been reduced?
Just wondered what your thoughts on this are as my wife & I have differing opinions. We're interested in a house for sale which has been up for what seems like a while, but the date on the EPC states 19th June. It was originally up for £159,950 & out of our budget. Last week it was dropped £10k to £149,950. This has an EPC…

Moving house and area after 22 years- help please
Hello all Ive lived in my home in an area of Bradford for 22 years, close to paying off mortgage. The area has become unbearable over the last few years, the riots in 2001 probably catalysed the decline. Most people here now are from the same area in Asia and I feel increasingly like an outsider, especially since getting a…

Section 21 - is it essential?
Hello I am renting out my property after receiving consent to let from my lender. They then asked me find an authorised letting agent, and the tenants moved in 01.07.13. URGENT - Renting: Agent won't refund "Holding Fee"
Hello, This is very urgent, please. I have found a property to rent through an established Estate Agent. When I offered on the flat, I informed the agent that I had a cat, then I signed a "Holding Deposit" form. I gave them £700 to cover: Referencing, Tenancy Agreement, Inventory Check-in, Admin. This was on 3rd July 2013.…

Just a quick gripe
Have viewed many properties over the last few weeks, none but one of which we liked enough to put in an offer. However, is it just us being unlucky, but only a couple of EAs have phoned us back to ask for feedback. We must be lucky with our EA as she has phoned us about every one of our viewings on our house which is…
