Offer near asking price - declined!!
Have put in lots of offers on a property - all declined even though latest offer was £5k under asking price. As ftb's thought we would be in a good position to proceed and the vendors would be happy to sell but not the case. Not sure whether to keep raising offer or look for something else... its disappointing. Would…

General "value" of planning permission?
I know that when it comes to property, the "value" of something is what someone is prepared to pay. Having said that...the property next door to us has just been put on the market. It has full detailed planning permission for demolishion and rebuild. Property was purchased in Apr 2007 for £210k. It's on the market now for…

Break Clause understanding
I posted this on another thread, but it is kind of off topic there, so I thought I'd post it here to maybe get some more responses... Does anyone know if this means what I think it means? I think that it means that after the 30th April 2009 we can give 2 months notice. But the way it is worded makes my head hurt. It's the…

Is it possible to have a lodger in a self-contained annexe?
I sort of already asked this in another thread, but it got a bit lost among my other questions... So, is it possible to have a lodger in a self-contained annexe (rather than a tenant)? The reason for asking this is that the annexe doesn't have its own council tax band and we believe that it probably doesn't have planning…

Hi everyone. I fairly recently (4th April...) moved out of my previous rented house into a new one having been there for four and a half years. Buying a property pre-auction
Hi I'm looking to buy two repo property which are being auctioned in the next two weeks. I have little experience of buying at auction and the properties appear to add up from a numbers point of view and generate good cash flow from day one (tenants have been at properties since 1998 and 2004). With this in mind, I am…

Definition of 'written'
If a contract/agreement says something has to be written, does it have to be written as in typed out, printed, signed and posted? Or can it be an e-mail? As far as I am concerned, an e-mail is just as valid as a written letter as both can be just as easily forged. I was wondering what the legal opinion on this might be?

Land Registration fee - gone up?
What would the Land Registration fee be on a property costing £245k, due to complete on the 23rd June? The solicitor has listed it in the invoice as £280. It is a starightforward house purchase, no sale of another property. I have looked on the Land Registry site but couldn't find a cost that matched that. Also, I thought…
