Should I rent it out in the hope the price will increase in the future
Hi, I am thinking of buying my grandmothers house and have a few options one of which is to rent it out then sell it in a few years. Would this be worth doing and are house prices going to rise. Any advice would be most welcome. LJW:rolleyes:

Wahoo! Good news!
Well, we are delighted that last Thursday we accepted an offer for the full asking price!:j But the goodness doesn't end there, we had an offer accepted on a place yesterday (£2k below asking price), so all systems go... Well, saying that, the seller needs to find somewhere yet, although the estate agent seems to think…

Change of heart re:selling
Could anyone let me know how we stand if we take our house off the market? We sold it within 5 days and have been searching for 3 weeks for a new house, but cannot find anything suitable. If we are going to pull out, we would rather do it before our buyer has incurred too much expense and time. If we pull out, will we be…

Excessive Service Charge
Bought a new build 1 bed flat in September 2005 and my service charge bill for 2006 was £746.75. This figure included £45 which was documented as being for the Management Company's Reserve Fund. Yesterday I received the Service Charge demand for 2007, which was for £801.08 plus a demand of £353.87 for the reserve fund (…

prefab housing
Does anyone have any information on council tax rebanding in Scotland regarding 1940's wartime prefabs? Should they be in the same band as similarly sized stone or brick housing? Ours, which we are renting from a private landlord, is in quite a bad state of repair structurally. The interior walls are made of asbestos.…

Would you buy a loft conversion flat in a popular location
I saw a property yesterday , a 2nd floor (top floor) loft conversion flat, lots of windows and lots of sunshine but a sloping wall in every room (2 bedroom). Good sized bedrooms though. The location is Prince Charles' Poundbury, in Dorchester , Dorset. The kitchen is modern (the building is only 2-3 years old), with enough…

New Landlord Deposit Rules
As a landlady, from April 2007 I will not be allowed to keep the new tenants deposit. Does anyone know what I should be doing with it? In an article I read it says it has to go into a custodial scheme or one of the two insurance based schemes. How do I go about this? I do not want to end up paying an estate agent a huge…

Help...So close yet so far
Hi all. I am new to the site, but thought I would ask what other users of the site think of the situation I find myself in. During the middle of January, I received a call from the estate agent to say a property had come back on the market, as it had failed to exchange the day before. Details were emailed over and it…

FAO: Robert Sterling
In your signature, you state: "We learn by our mistakes. Happy is the person who learns by other peoples mistakes" In that case, I've just learnt from you that you should have an apostrophe after "peoples". ie. "We learn by our mistakes. Happy is the person who learns by other peoples' mistakes" Maybe you could learn from…
