Do you regret selling your last home?

I moved 2 years ago and still haven't really settled into this place. I often wish that I hadn't moved and even dream about my old house. Do you wish that you were in your old home?

No- because I was in a 2 bed flat with no garden with a DD and DS rapidly growing and sharing a room. I couldn't keep it tidy as I had washing drying on every available surface and also had downstairs neighbour complaining about the noise for 8 months until they moved. New downstairs neighbour was lovely and was at work during the day but couldn't make me feel less guilty about the noise despite it only being between 8 and 6. So now I'm in a 3 bed semi with separate dining room. I have been here for nearly 2 years and have loads left to do to it but I love it. I knew the minute I walked in through the nasty front door into the worse lounge (which just went downhill!) that this was MY HOME and meant to be. I told the EA I couldn't make an offer because DH would kill me but we had to view again and 3 months later we were in. I love it. Love the house, love the neighbours, love the area and school for DD, I just love it. (Apart from the darknesss- the ghosties I can deal with but the light sucking darkness on a bad night is just too much and needs to be dealt with)

I regreted our move from 1st to 2nd house bitterly and never felt settled for the five years we were there. We then moved to house 3 (learning from house 2 just what we did and didn't want in a house/area) and have been happy here for 16 years! Trouble is we need to move again now (jobs) and already I'm worried if I'll regret it again.

I think if you've done your best to settle and given it at least a year and still feel bad then, if at all possible, cut your loses and move again.

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...
  • It was so hard to downsize from our family home of 22 years. Wonderful village, garden, people but I said goodbye to it in stages. It was like letting-go and the first stage came when I started doing the clearing out and house doctoring stuff. It was as though the house was getting ready for a new owner.

Life just HAS to move on and now we have been in our new town house for 2 years. It felt so strange at first but I put my ex-feng shui hat on and dug out my course notes. I did the feng shui stuff in the hall and lounge because I wanted to bring some energy and ambience into a new build that felt `dead` and the result was miraculous. Our good energy is now in this house and it has taken on our own vibes

Don`t look back because this is wasted energy. Put something of yourself into your new home and the magic will come back

I`m just thinking that maybe we should go more on intuition when we buy a home and if I had bought a second-hand home then I would have gone around with space-cleansing stuff. It could be that past vibes and you don`t get on. It is never too late and worth a bit of research on the net. Space cleansing is like starting afresh before you put your own stamp on it

Interesting how people get so attached to inanimate objects, for me a house is just somewhere I live, as long as it's in a nice area and I don't have to worry about unpleasant neighbours/crime I really don't mind where I am.

I moved here 5yrs ago to a house that seemed perfect to me. However, I was regretting the move within weeks & have so often wished I were back in my old house, which I loved.

It's been hard for me to stay put for all these years, hoping I'd finally feel this was home & not just a house where I lived, but it just hasn't happened so I'm going to be selling very soon.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • The people who sold our flat to us regretted doing so straight away... and unfortunately they haven't quite got used to the fact that they don't live here. They're still angry that we changed the interior and removed their fixtures and fittings.
