Can the good landlords please tell me how long they wait to return a tennant's deposit ie What do you consider as reasonable time?
Do you wait to see proof that the utility bills have been paid before returning the deposit?
Thanks

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

What does the tenancy agreement say about the deposit?
It's normal for the deposit to be held just to cover damage/breakages, so it ought to be returned once you are satisfied that there are none.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Thanks for the quick reply.
There is no time mentioned in the contract, so just wondering how long landlords/EA take to return the deposits?

Once the check out condition report is done and agreed, It can be returned fairly promptly unless there is some outstanding negotiation on how much.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0

If there are no repairs to do, then probably a week at most. The delay would be if there are repairs to do, then one must wait for estimates etc. to determine cost. Sometimes, if agents hold the deposit, it can be delayed depending on how busy or short staffed they are, and they have to get approval from the LL, but again, a week should be fair.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0
