Smart Meter Disinformation
As an Economy 7 customer Smart Meter pestering is becoming a nightmare. Are other consumers having problems with these devices? Having been a Yorkshire Energy customer I am now with another supplier via Scottish Power another nightmare. While I agree with the principle of smart meters I have to caution the way in which…

FIT Metered or Deemed export?
Hi Anyone able to give advice whether it's better to on a deemed or metered export? We are averaging about £13.70p from the Fit on a deemed export. We used about 2076kw of electric last year if that helps in anyway and our panels are East facing.

Energy Bills and Energy Ombudsman decisions: When to give up?
Hey all, created an account to ask for some advice here. I'll apologise from the outset for what is likely to be a very long post. I'm months deep into trying to manage an issue here so there's a lot of information to try and encapsulate. Below I'll provide subheadings for the Current Issue, a breakdown of the Full…

New boiler advice? Help to pay? PIP/disability
Hi, I'm in a real quandary and hoping folks can help. My 15 year old condensing boiler has broken. The engineer thinks the new valve it needs will cost around £500 fitted. It feels hardly worth it when the boiler could go at any time, they say they don't last much longer than 15 years. Plus he can't guarantee that's even…

Green Network Energy Collapse - Final Bills
It's been four long months since EDF has taken over the accounts of those of us who were with Green Network Energy when they ceased trading and there's still no sign of a final bill covering the energy used prior to EDF taking over. I have managed to get EDF to give me an interim bill for that used since they took over…

Eon and Scottish power and overcharged bill
Hello I was unlucky enough to be moved to Scottish power when my energy supplier went bust. After a 6 month long fight I've managed to get them sorted out after much stress and worry and sleepless nights. However I have moved to eon and their first electricity bill has been generated on an opening estimated reading. When I…

Energy Deal Names
I have been on Avro's Simple and SuperPremier since the start of the year. It is not available from the dropdown menus when trying to do a comparison. Is this ever going to be added? Am I the only one to have this issue? It is rather annoying and spoils the effectiveness of a useful tool.

Business standing charge for disconnected meter
Hi All, I wonder if anyone has any experience with gas meter removals from business premises. I am a trustee of a charity which operates as a business. Our gas boiler was de-commissioned in 2019 and we have recently had an all-electric replacement. We have been trying to stop the standing charges for our business gas meter…

British Gas said my meter was faulty but now say it wasn't!!!
Hi, I've had issues for years that electric with British Gas was extremely high. After they sent out an engineer how said my meter was faulty (as to his paperwork). But they have now came back with the calculations saying that they are within the range and it is not faulty! I have a 4 bed detached. As to my direct debit…

Economy 7 hours
Utility Warehouse tell me that Economy 7 is usually 12 to 7 but that not all metres switch at the same time because there would be an energy surge. So they say that it could switch anywhere up to two hours after 12 at night and the only way to know is by waiting to hear it click. Surely this cannot be true?

Excellent Engineer visit.
Hi Just to award a bouquet, rather than the usual brickbats, to BES Metering working on behalf of EDF. I watched the work, and it was excellent workmanship. Smart meter fitted and all seems well. Late edit.... Now named Smart Choice Metering END OF.

What does my energy company do?
Hello folks, I have a simple question, one which has
arisen from a matter involving my elderly mothers' energy company and a rise in
payments, the question being is what exactly do energy companies do for you or
I, as paying customers? I understand they work as what are
essentially brokers and buy gas and electricity from…

EON held credit on account and final bill produced 9 years later
I received a letter from EON saying you've not paid your final bill from 29/04/21 £446.48. When I looked at the letter it was addressed to my current address in my old name but the usage was refering to the house I moved from December 2013. When I spoke to EON they said they did not know why it had taken 9 years to produce…

Standing charges
I just noticed that my standing charge per day on my old fix was 7p. Now all the standing charges are between 18p and 26p even on fixed deals, I assume higher on the standard variable. This would seem to be the companies evading the price cap and penalising customers who use very little energy, ie the poorest.
