Smart meters

It seems to be better to wait till at least after April. And we can refuse it now? Has anyone had dealings…

Homecare 400 contract and Gas supplier
(Reposted here in correct forum!) Mum has a Homecare 400 contract, and has her gas supplied by B Gas. Setting aside the question of whether she should continue the H400 contract, is the existence and/or cost of the H400 contract dependent on the property also being supplied by B Gas? I am minded to suggest she switches gas…

Eon
Hi. I moved into a property with a prepayment meter for my gas and electric. Its with eon. I had the meters changed so i can pay with DD. I was told it would take up to 6 weeks for the details to be updated and then i could change tariff from the prepayment tariff. Eventually they updated the gas account after about 10…

Scottish Power Compensation (max)
Have been in dispute with SP for 3 months now! Getting nowhere fast, so decided to move supplier. New supplier took over on 27th Dec & took DD £171. Scottish Power then took £171 on 4th Jan. I phoned & complained asking for immediate refund under the direct Debit guarantee & the fact they currently owed me £1429. I got…

Scottish Power doubles gas DD based on basic error
Scottish Power recently took my meter reading and wrote to me advising that my monthly gas DD would double to £153. My own calculations based on actual readings suggested there was no need to change, so I called them up. They ran through a list of justifications which did not make sense and which I refused to accept.…

Our gas and electric supply contract with Sainsburys ends on 29.02.16, its been a good deal but there are slightly better ones out there so I have been told, looking at my present supplier I see I have a £29 per gas / electric charge for leaving before end date of contract, I had read somewhere that it is waved should you…

Switching providors - Cost or Customer Service
Hi there My first post to MSE! Yay I am currently with Scottish power for my electricity supply. I have no other services to my flat, so all my heating, hot water, cooking etc is provided powered using electricity via an Economy 7 meter. My direct debit currently stands at about £94 a month and last year I used 9906KwH. My…

OVO Energy: Separate supply (and Standing Charge) for Storage Heaters
Hi all, I'm new here but this website seems like the best place to come with this issue. I recently moved in to a very small flat (rented) which has its energy supplied by OVO Energy. There is no gas supply, with heating being provided via old style storage heaters. Initially, there was some confusion with the billing - I…

Is my meter faulty?
I have been living on my own in a 2 bed flat for the last 6 weeks and on reading my electricity meter after 6 weeks it appears I have only used 6kwh. I know I live quite frugally but this seems very low to me especially as I was at home for 10 days over Christmas with the TV on most of the day every day with the kids.…

Water meter - should I change?
I know that I could save a lot of money by changing to a water meter, but I have a concern about doing so. Mine is a family house and I am worried that by changing to a water meter a potential future buyer with a larger family might be put off. My estate agent says they might be, my plumber says they won't as meters are so…

Solar Thermal - Renewable Heat Incentive
I bought a new build last year that came with a Worcester Solar Thermal system (heats the hot water). According to the OFGEM site, my system is eligible for a Domestic RHi payment on a quarterly basis, subject to my application being accepted. The application requires the MCS Certificate Number which i don't have as it was…

Meter wrongly installed as Economy 7
I'm just trying to understand what's going on here. Eight years ago I had a new electricity meter installed. It has somehow been classed as an Economy 7 meter, but the 'night' rate has always remained at '0'. I have always been charged the 'day' rate on all bills. Presumably if it was a true Eco meter it would at least…

In credit with the utility bill
Is it just me or are energy companies quick to raise your DD when you fall into deficit but they don't tell you when you are in credit to allow you to lower your bill by using your money in your energy account? Although the interest payment to us would be reasonably miniscule, imagine your miniscule interest payment and…
