No winter fuel discount from OVO
I changed from Scottish Power to OVO after signing onto MSE's Energy comparison check. Signed on with OVO energy but have only just found out that they do not participate in the £140 winter fuel payment which I would have been entitled to as I am on Guaranteed Pension Credits. If I had been aware that this company do not…

British Gas "Miscellaneous adjustment" £12 Credit
Just logged in to my British Gas account to submit this month's meter readings, and noticed my account was £12 in credit. Looking at the transaction history, I was awarded a £12 "Miscellaneous adjustment" on 4th November. I'm not complaining about being given £12, but intrigued to know what it's for! Any ideas?

Why am I Denied a Standard Tariff?
I have a digital electricity meter that displays Day Usage, Night Usage, and Total Usage. My night consumption is 18% of the total. When I reviewed tariffs a couple of years ago, I decided that an Economy 7 tariff was not cost-effective for me, so I filled out the application form for the supplier (can't remember who) for…

NPower not acknowledging my complaint
It took them 8 months to issue my final bill after i moved out and it was for £1720. After several phonecalls it was reduced to about £172 and then finally to £117. I was told that my meter reading had not been applied and that i should expect my final bill to actually be about £50. several weeks passed and i received a…

scottish power switched me to standard online tariff for no valid reason!
Out of the blue Scottish power sent me an email with link to online message. Message says I was previously on "ONLINE FIXED PRICE ENERGY MARCH 2015". Recent direct debit paid on 27th October. Bank confirm the direct debit is active. It's been one thing after another since i've been at scottish power and i'm sick of chasing…

Cheap Energy Club Big Winter Switch ends 5pm! How much can you save?
What's it about? Our 10-day MSE #BigWinterSwitch Event is a collective switch - that's where a 'trusted intermediary' (such as a council or us) runs an auction for energy firms to provide special tariffs for its members. As we're so big, we're proud that unlike many collective switches our winners are cheaper for most than…

Standard THTC tariff
I have this tariff with the Scottish Hydro and wonder whether it is available with any other company or am I stuck with them unless I change my heating system which I am quite happy with?

Replacement diffuser discs for downlights?
In our kitchen we have 6 circular downlights, each housing two G23 bulbs. Unfortunatey over the years, the most of the 15cm plastic diffuser (?) discs which cover the cans have cracked. Does anyone know where I might start looking for replacements? I've tried searching eBay/Google for "light diffuser discs" etc but haven't…

Energy meters/monitors
I'm trying to work out how much various things cost to run in my home, espicially when cooking meals in an electric oven as i'm mulling over the idea of buying one of those microwaves that cook as well. So does anyone have any experience of these things, how good are they at telling you how much in £'s something costs to…

How to get refund from supplier when switching
Hello, I've just applied to switch accounts but one of the suppliers I'm switching away from (British Gas) owes us £12. How do I get this amount, and at what stage in the switch? Do I have to call and ask, or will it be credited automatically? The account is in my flatmate's name so presumably she has to contact them?…

Eon Energy 18 Energy Plan 3
Hi MSE fans, I have been a long follower of MSE, but this is only my second post! I moved into my flat in April and I have underfloor heating, heat pump and heat recovery system. I was advised to go on Eon Energy 18 Energy Plan 3. I will be honest I am not too sure what I get. I only have electricity, so no gas or anything…

Big Switch 'Eon' - where is the saving?
Hello I may have overlooked something here, and I am in no way criticizing MSE Cheap Energy Club, which I think is great, but looking at the Big Switch Eon promotion, I'm struggling to see how 'MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Switch Online' differs from E.ON's own 'E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v12' overall? My own example... MSE…

Electricity
Hello. I live in a building divided into 6 flats. It is supported housing. The electricity meters are situated outside my flat, in a cupboard. In the last year I have noticed that there are only 5 and not 6 electricity meters. A number of the electricity companies' meter readers when they come to read the meters have…

At what point can you switch without incurring fee?
Hello I'm currently with E.ON for electricity, and Zog for gas, and would like to use Big Switch to go dual fuel with E.ON, but it's likely I will incur £25 early exit fee from Zog. I'm curious to find out at which point in time can you switch without incurring an early exit fee? I've always waited until contract has…

Cheap Energy Club - wrong by £300+
Is the Cheap Energy Club calculator supposed to be accurate? I assumed that because I entered my usage and tariff, it could calculate it properly. I have the exact consumption and exact cost of my bill. The CEC calculator is out by +£312. Fortunately, I was wise enough to check the figures it churned out. Consequently I…

Stuck in a flat with expensive immersion water heater AND pump, help!
I recently moved to the UK with a secure full time job, and my spouse will join me soon. Mine will be the main income for some months, so we will be tight on money, and need to save as much as possible. Unfortunately, I didn't know I rented I flat which doesn't heat water through the gas boiler. Instead, it has a water…

Big Winter Switch to E.ON - Application approved but no email from E.ON to say so?
Applied through cheapenergyclub yesterday. They state that it can take 24 hours to send the application the the chosen supplier. E.ON representative on the forum suggests that it can take 4 working days for the application to reach them (wonder why??). Cheapeneryclub is showing "switch in progress" since the moment I…
