Applied through cheapenergyclub yesterday. They state that it can take 24 hours to send the application the the chosen supplier.

E.ON representative on the forum suggests that it can take 4 working days for the application to reach them (wonder why??).
Applications through the Cheap Energy Club can take up to 4 days to reach us. You'll receive a confirmation email when the application has come through and the status on Cheap Energy Club will show as 'switch in progress.'

Cheapeneryclub is showing "switch in progress" since the moment I clicked the apply button ....

so where is the application, and is anyone working on it?

Before coming across MSE/cheapenergy offer of £30 cashback yesterday on the E.ON Fixed 1 year v12 deal, I had infact applied for the same through E.ON website a day before (without cashback of course). The credit check was done within hours and I received account information, login details etc. within 12 hours of applying.

Sure, had to call and cancel that switch in order to apply through MSE/cheapebergyclub to benefit from the extra £30 cashback. That I did yesterday over the phone and before applying through MSE tried logging into the account number - which I couldn't - so I felt sure that the switch had been cancelled.

Today I have received an email stating that the "switch" has been cancelled ... without giving any information about which application they are referring to. So I am confused ..... :(

  • Anyone switched to E.ON recently through MSE/cheapenergyclub?
How long it it take E.ON to respond to your application .. from the date you applied?

    TIA.

    Another phone call to E.ON.

The switch application through MSE is now on the E.ON system according to the person I spoke to.

Asked her if the credit check had been done and if the application to switch is now approved, and switch is at the next stage (14 days cooling off period). She confirmed.

When I questioned as to why I had not received any communication from E.ON by email confirming approval of the application I was told -
"E.ON will not send any email confirming either receipt of application or approval of application or the account number assigned to the application or about details to open online account etc. until the 14 days cooling period is over."

Strange!! So the applicant keeps wondering for >14 days about the status of the application ..... and may end up finding his application was refused for some reason 14 days too late!!!

As posted by brewerdave, whatever I was told on the phone isn't right ... unless the procedures have been amended since 5-Nov ...... so what's going on??

What do the E.ON representatives on the forum have to say about what I have just been told by E.ON customer care?
  • I would advise anyone wishing to switch energy providers to go direct to the provider of their choice and cut out any middlemen. I don't mean to criticise MSE but going through them introduces an extra layer in the deal and can cause problems as cited on these forums previously.

I would advise you do not do as suggested in the last post !

THIS IS A MONEY SAVING FORUM !

There is more than enough good advise on here to help you through the switches and still get £15 per fuel !

I had 3 emails on the 3rd-first was just a general one thanking me for agreeing to receive info. by email!
Second one, was confirming my tariff details,DD amount etc and the third one, included the link to set up my EON online account.
The 14 day cooling off period was outlined in the 2nd email.:)
  • No email(s) received yesterday so I called up E.ON again today as I forgot to note down the account number assigned to my application that the lady had mentioned during the phone call yesterday.

Same story ... you will not receive any email until the 14 days cooling off period is over!! Anyways, I asked for the account number and was given one.

About 30 min. later, received an email from E.ON asking me to register for online account. Upon doing so, received another one asking me to activate the account. I can login now - can see the account number (same as was given to me on the phone), address, and that both gas and electricity are expected to be switched by so and so date. But the product / tariff details are not yet visible.

Some progress ... so am at ease.

That said, can't still figure out why I was told by 2 people that E.ON will not be sending emails until 14 days are over .... and then receive (some if not all) email(s) that an applicant would expect to receive when the switch is initiated!!!

    :huh::huh:

I'm guessing they say this because 'we don't know when you'll get the emails, it depends on how quickly we process the backlog of new applications' isn't a particularly satisfying answer. Most people would take the fact that they have received the emails earlier than the E.ON rep said they would as a sign of E.ON's efficiency.

Hi, I used The Big Switch and applied to switch to Eon through MSE on Friday 7th Nov. Up to now (Tues 11th) I've received no emails regarding this switch. Am I being too impatient or is there a backlog as mentioned somewhere in an earlier post?
