Will I save money disconnecting from gas and just using electric
Hello, I live in a small 2 bed detached cottage, it is fairly well insulated apart from the floors. I'm thinking about just cutting off the gas and just using electricity. Has anyone else done this to save money? I know gas is 4p per kw/h and elec is 14p, but once you add on the gas standing charge (140), yearly service…

SP Online Fixed Price Energy November 2014
Martin's Cheap Energy Club is marking this tariff as having a £100 cashback. I'm familiar with the terms and conditions surrounding the £30 cashback. In fact I've already had one in the last 12 months - so I guess that I might only be eligible for the remaining £70. However, Who pays me, and under what terms and…

Question re Warm Home Discount Scheme
I've recently found out that I qualify for this scheme, and wanted to see if my friend is also eligible. I'm not sure if she pays her bills quarterly or is on prepayment, but she claims DLA. I'm not exactly sure what Pension Credit is, but I know that she is in her early sixties and works part time, and is not eligible for…

We have been with First Utility for almost 2 years and our contract is up in December 2014. Until July this year we have never had a problem with them, we pay for what we use on a monthly direct debit. In July this year we had our gas meter changed and since then we have not been asked by First Utility for the readings…

ScottishPower deliberately and systematically misbilling final bills?
I feel on top of this, so am not asking for advice - I'm just curious if my experience is replicated elsewhere at all, as I get the impression that what I have seen when closing my account down is no accident and was a deliberate policy to misbill (and I don't necessarily believe it was an attempt to overbill, though it…

I have recently moved in with my fiance, both of us are in full time employment although I am also disabled and receive the higher rate mobility and the middle rate care component of DLA. One of the things I have found is that…

My query is ..... is the daily standing charge also fixed as well as the energy kwh price? I have no idea and would be grateful if some wise soul could enlighten me as…

Penalty charges for late payment of bill
I got a £5 penalty for late payment to British gas. It's no big deal, but I just wondered if they have a universal right to charge add a penalty charge of any amount they choose. I don't remember signing a contract with them and I have been at the same house getting bills from them for almost 20 years.

British Gas Complaint re: new boiler
I got a new condensing combi boiler fitted by BG on the 6th August under the Affordable Warmth Scheme (Scotland). Prior to installation I had a "surveyor" come round from BG who advised my existing 12 yr old (but working perfectly) Worcester boiler was not energy efficient and eligible to be replaced under the scheme. I…
