Npower energy saving improvements

Just a quick question really.

My other half awhile ago registered for the NPower energy saving improvement scheme, i think basically to get a new efficient boiler for the winter as last year we had no ends of problems with ours.

I have just taken a call from them to book a technical survey, but me being me forgot to ask them what the survey was about etc I also wanted to ask them if we will have to change over to NPower for our electric and gas if/when we get onto the scheme.

Its been such a long time since he registered his interest in it that I had forgotten about it altogether.

Does anyone know? The website about it doesn't help regarding my questions and I just know the other half is going to ask me these questions when he comes home from work.

Is it the Energy Company Obligation scheme that you are applying under?

Not exactly sure how Npower work, but I would expect a technical survey to be looking at pipework, siting of boiler, location of cylinder location of flue, that kind of thing. They may also do an Energy Performance assessment of your property (if it is the ECO scheme that is). For this the assessor would be looking at levels of insulation, measuring the dimensions of the property, measuring wall thicknesses, recording the current heating systems, noting the type of glazing... It would generally help the assessor if you could have available, any certificates relating to these aspects. The assessor will need to take photographs of these key elements. This assessment could easily take an hour or so, depending on the size and complexity of your property.
