As if statemens were not already confusing per se...
I submitted today a reading of 48892 (so the one there that says 'estimate' for Dec 14th, it's an actual reading; the 14th November one is estimated) And obviously, there is a change of tariff at the start of December. That's what's made this mess with the estimated readings ;)

** Confusion over annual usage/annual spend **
Hi all, the time has come for me to do my yearly comparisons as E.ON has contacted me regarding moving me on to the standard plan, price rises etc. I have been given the following as a guide: 4.461 KWH for electricity and 16.823 KWH for gas. What I don't understand is when I put these figures in to comparison tools they…

E.on and their notice of a 10,000% p.a. price increase. Is this a record?
I nearly fell off my chair when I got this notification this morning! It's nothing to do with direct debits, or an increase in our consumption; it's the notification of an intended price increase of our electricity tariff from E.on. Some mistake surely you would think? Well we did, so I called them only to be informed it's…

Meter reading transcribed incorrectly - how long to correct?
Just over a month ago the electricity meter man (from Siemens) called to take a reading at my house and it seems that the figures got transcribed incorrectly somewhere along the line to the electricity supplier. Instead of the usual £140-ish bill, I got one for more than £1200. The electricity supplier had actually noticed…

Time is running out, please claim your £130 asap
I am not sure whether it has been widely known in the forum, but lots of my friends do not know. All big six offer £130 credit to your bill (even you are on prepayment meter) under the Broader group scheme, it is not automatically, and you will have to ring them to apply it, most company sasy the deadline is end of the…

Pre-payment cards - are they more expensive?
Hi, A friend of mine has been told by his supplier that he is going to be moved to a pre-payment card system for gas and electricity, due to being in arrears (to the tune of about £300 I believe). It was my understanding that such cards are more expensive than paying "normally" (even ignoring any discount that you might…

Gas Usage
Hi all, in the past 3 weeks since moving into my new flat myself and my partner have used 50 units of gas. Heating the flatin the morning and leaving it off until we get back then heat it up again at six. Is this in line with what everyone else is using in similar buildings? 2 bed modern flat with six radiators. We have…

heating - leave it on, or turn it off?
Having this discussion about this at the moment, so I though I'd see if anyone had any good ideas. Some people say it's best to leave your heating on all day at a lowish temperature (15 degrees? 12 degrees?) rather than turn it off at 8.30 in the morning and have to reheat the place from scratch after 4pm. Is this true? If…

Northern Gas Heating Ltd - conmen?
Hello, I've recently had a boiler installed with Northern Gas Heating Ltd. I applied through a website where you enter a job and companies get back to. British gas gave a quote, £3400 and NGH Ltd gave £2200. Obviously i went with the cheaper quote, knocked them down to £2000. The gentleman who did the sales pitch has a…

Spark Energy and Prepayment
I know that Spark Energy are not the best utility company in business, and in fact on the review sites they seem to be the worst as they consistantly get less than 1 out of 5 on several review and consumer websites, however I note that the majority of complaints all seem to be centred around Direct Debit and credit meter…
