Gas supply and connection
Hi, My partner and i have just purchased a property but it currently has no heating! We want to get gas central heating but there is currently no gas supply to the house but there is gas in the road. I have phoned british gas and its going to take 3-4 weeks to get a quote to bring the gas up to the house, then a further 6 weeks to get the work done!
Is british gas the only company that can do the work?
If not then please can we have details of any other companies we can get quotes for the work please?
Thanks
Rachel and Lee

It will be National Grid doing the work, I guess you could contact them directly.

I live in Scotland so got the Gas Network (different to England) here to give us a quote. Applied on the 5th, guy came out around the 9th/10th to survey the area and the quote came through today - so about 9 days in total which is pretty good for this time of the year...0

If you mean that you have asked BG to install the CH as well, then you should be aware that they are typically 40% more expensive than an independent. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

It will be National Grid doing the work,
It will depend on where they live, parts of the North & North East of England are covered by Northern Gas Networks.0 -
Thanks, i will get a quote direct from national grid. No we are not getting the central heating installed by british gas! They couldnt even do a quote for central heating until 29th Jan! Luckily we know a gas safe plumber. We live on the Isle of Wight (south england)0

Nope they don't do the South, you'll need Southern Gas Networks.
Only £435 +VAT if you dig your own trench!!

It was SGN who gave me the quote. Was only £280 but this was subsidised I guess because of the area...0
