Gledhill Gas Boiler Problem (Sussex)
Hi, we have a Gledhill GB 30 gas boiler that isn't working properly. We have underfloor heating and solar panels also. The boiler isn't working properly and no local plumbers seem able to help us. The most recent one being unable to get in to check the sensor. Basically the problem is that the boiler doesn't always start up and requires manual reset which in these temperatures is no good and we are coming home to a freezing house everyday. Has anyone else had bad experiences or can help with this problem as we don't know what to do. Gledhill refuse to help and British gas won't touch it quoting us £5000 for a new boiler which we can't afford. Any help would be much appreciated.

Find a local independent GSR RGI (not a 'plumber') who knows your boiler model. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

ask the board guides to move your thread here
do you have the instruction book (page 29) & know how to get into the fault codes ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Gledhill are an awful make, but one should be able to find their way around it.
I have part of a large local new build estate that one of the builders is fitting these. I dread the day I have to go out to one of these for a fault.0 -
I just searched for Gledhill GB30, and here's a sample:

"We are familiar with repairing all the latest and most popular Gledhill models including the BoilerMate 2000, BoilerMate BP, ElectraMate 2000/ A-Class, GulfStream 2000/ A-Class, PulsaCoil BP, PulsaCoil 2000, PulsaCoil III, PulsaCoil A-Clas, GB10, GB15, GB20, GB25, GB30, GB25, Torrent MultiFuelStore SP/ OV, Gledhill 7 and SysteMate 2000."
Who put the GB30 in?
I see my plumber more often than my dental hygienist.
A plumber is for life, not just for Christmas.0 -

Why are, or more accurately were, Gledhill an awful make?
I thought Gledhill went bust quite a few years back, so it surprises me that anyone would be installing so called 'new' systems from them today.0 -
Hi thanks for all your advice. We decided not to give up yet as the last plumber said that it is an A rated boiler and it is a waste of money to get new one if we can fix it, plus it is only 6 years old. The problem is that nobody has the specific screwdriver head to get to the sensor part. It seems like all country has somebody dealing with Gledhill boilers except Sussex and plumbers from London will not travel so far. If you know somebody who is not to far from Lancing/Worthing/Brighton give me a shout. All help highly appreciated, and thanks again for all your responses.0

A Torx T10 driver, your havin a laugh!
You are using idiots who are not equipped with the basic tools required for the job. They are readily available for pennies e.g. here or an eight piece set for very little more here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Gledhill went bust a while ago, but then 'rose from the ashes' as two separate companies.
Rather than take the simple and usual road to making boilers, they have to add just enough of their own carp to make them useless and awkward to work on.
New build probably get them 'free with a packet of cornflakes' so to speak.
Can't see why else any one would fit them.
Getting parts is harder than usual as well.0 -
hi
We know where u coming from. We had a few people around and they couldn't open it up. How do you know it is a Torx T10?0
