Energy: compare or invest?
I think it’s incredibly difficult to determine cheapest energy prices faced with the complexities of new/changing/defunct deals, now with added tie-ins and endless caveats. The comparison sites seem only able to work with static data but the complexity of the energy market on “ordinary” consumers might be better served by…

New home and extremely confused with all the utility lingo?
My partner and I have just moved into a rented house. It is currently with British Gas for both gas and electricity. At our old place we were with BG for Gas and EON for Electricity. I'm going to rent a flat, about 50 sqm area which has underfloor heating. The agent wasn't sure if it was electric or gas, but since the flat has a boiler she believed it was gas wet heating and will confirm me later. In the mean time, I wanted to check whats the running cost of Gas UFH and it seems thats about 15-40%…

British Gas WebSaver problem
Hi. I signed up for WebSaver 6 in Feb, registered for online account management, but somehow forgot to sign up for paperless billing, which is one of the conditions. British Gas Crooks? Ofgem wrong?
I have a small unit on a industrial estate. I have had a dispute with BG and took it to the Ombudsman. We have not got what we thought we should have got from our complaint. In fact the Ombudsman decision is going to Bankrupt us which is a serious shame. I started the business in 1979 and employ 7 staff who have worked…

Ofgem fishing for compliments
You know those [STRIKE]cra[/STRIKE]rubbishy feedback surveys web sites ask you to complete? Although I should know better I succumbed to Ofgem's request. As expected, complete waste of time - very few appropriate questions and some very necessary questions were completely absent. One of the most cynical pieces of selective…

Hooray! Ofgem declare a 20% cut in gas costs from January!
Well, not quite. They will be using a revised average annual gas consumption figure of 16,500 kWh* from 17 January. So watch out for misleading (or, rather, even more misleading than usual) twaddle from the snake-oilers then. Electricity remains at 3,300 kWh. * Down from the current figure of 20,500 kWh.
