doing casual work whilst on maternity leave
Does anyone know what would happen if I did some casual or temporary work duing my maternity leave? The HMRC website says that if you start work for another employer your SMP will stop but would that only apply if I started a permanent job elsewhere? I just want to find out if I can do a bit of temporary work to earn a few…

:money:After a 5yr career break (during which time I re-married and gave birth to our son out of the UK) I return to the UK to resume life/work with new family who have never lived in UK before but from within EU. Best place to job search?
Apart from job centre? They get loads of applicants it's ridiculous to even get a look in! :( Would be interested in agencies but they never specialise in what I want to do (retail/receptionist work). What else is there? Jobsite, reed, fish4jobs etc always advertise specialist jobs, never low paid jobs

contractual sick pay problem
I'm hoping one of you can help me with this, as employment and contract law are way out of my area. I work for a small business in Northern Ireland. Due to an injury which my employer is aware of, I am likely to need to take some substantial time off work (I'm in a lot of pain and may need surgery). My contract contains…

NHS job site - adverts taken down after 1 day
I've noticed that several adverts I have looked at have been taken down after only a day or two advertised even when they have closing dates a few weeks in the future. Now I know they can end the advert early if they get enough suitable candidates but I really don't think after a day they've had enough applicants and the…

Will moving to Germany now affect my son's University Funding?
I am based in Germany, my son currently (and has always to date) lives in England with his Mum. After 10 schools, and a repeated problem with bullying, last year he finally settled down and started to show promise at school ... he's 17, re-did a year to get better grades so he could do A-levels, and he has a desire to go…

Work Uniform
Hi all, I am writing on behalf of my mum. Her work place arranges her uniform for her and she pays a fraction of the cost. This is then taken from her wages once she has received the new uniform, but lately there has been issues concerning this matter. Firstly, they have not provided samples in different sizes for her to…

Mistake on CV - What to do?
I helped my partner complete a CV last night and only just noticed the 'mistake'. When filling out the dates of employment, I put the start date and 'Present' as the 'To' Date. Now that I look over the application which is 'in progress', I see that 'present' isn't there, and it's just blank. It was an online application…

Relocating But Not Sure When
I'll be relocating soon but I don't know exactly when. I think I should be applying for jobs in the new area now but my GF says that employers won't even consider me before I've moved - or at least have a definite date. I feel I've got nothing to lose by applying now but, on the other hand, if an employer were to reject me…
