Personal Career Solutions

Does anyone have any experience of Personal Career Solutions? Does their programme deliver, and is it worth the money spent in getting into a position you would not otherwise uncover?

I went to speak to one of their directors before I realised what they were.

The meetings (2) were all very heavily sales based though pricing wasnt mentioned until the 11th hour of the 2nd meeting, the rest of the time was spent saying how underpaid I was and how I was perfectly suited for leveraging their resources etc.

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] They did however give me an alternative format for my CV as a suggestion with a rational for it. Since then I have had 3 new jobs/ clients and amuzingly 2 of them did use the CV in exactly the way that the PCS director had said it would be.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've attended the first 2 sessions with PCS [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

I also have been told how I am undervalued blah blah but as I am looking to change Industries I am finding it hard to open doors at the right level.

I also wondered if anyone had paid PCS anything and how the process was.

The service sounds good but how they deliver in real world terms is another thing [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

It is quite expensive. I heard their services are good but I just can't afford it. Maybe, when I have spare money, then I may try it too. But for now, it is out of my budget.

I've just had my second interview with Personal Career Solutions and only at the end did they mention a fee. £[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] was the charge to change my career. The regional director was surprised that I didn't know about the fees but I pointed out that throughout the process there was never a mention of fees. I was under the impression that the fee was paid by the company which offered employment. I have had to take 2 days off work for this process and paid out around £60 in petrol to attend the interviews. I feel let down by this company..

I have also attended a second interview where I was presented with a paper outlining what they would do for me at a fee of £[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] + vat. Very difficult to know if this is value for money or not. However there is no obligation on their part to actually find a job for you. It might help to sharpen your CV and interview skills but you have to question the fee, value for money or not?

I can't believe that they do anything that you can't get elsewhere.

There is a lot of free information, advice and support available.

Out of curiousity, if they said you'd get a £60k job what are you currently on?

I know when I spoke to them a good few years ago (but didn't use their services) I was on circa £50k and they were saying I'd easily get a job being in the £100k area.

Just wonder if they simply double your current salary

I went couple of weeks ago to the two introductory meetings.

As a former manager of a large staff, I will admit that what they are said (at least to me) regarding the job market, I know is true.

Their service proposition, makes a lot of sense in that respect, and may be legit.

What makes the whole package a bit dodgy, however, are three things :

    1. I could not find, anywhere a positive review of their service.

    2. They ask for Money up-front. Which means (as someone posted here), that if you're not happy, you can't "opt-out", and recover at least part of your money.

    3. Finally, as a hiring manager, I don't ever recall being in contact with firms providing this kind of service - leading me to ask - where would the opportunities come from?
