Holiday Entitlement before taking Maternity Leave
I'll be going off on Maternity leave later this year, but I'm abit confused about holiday entitlement. Do I still get my full entitlement as an employee, and can any holidays I don't use be paid in with my salary before I finish? Or, will I only get part of my holiday entitlement up until I finish? I'm sure my employer…

Interview Questions: Where Do You See Yourself in 5 Years?
This isn't always an appropriate question I'd have thought.... I was asked it recently in a job interview and so I wondered what the right answer would be. If it's a small company, no chance of promotion, job is "a good one", it's the job you want to do and the company have no opportunity for advancement then you can't say…

I have an interview in a nursery on Mon & I am just wondering if anyone can give me any ideas of what sort of questions I am likely to be asked? job application questions
I am applying for a job and the questions are slightly putting me off:- Are you married? How many children do you have? Seems a bit unfair as i feel like maybe already they are sifting married mothers out of the equation?? Are these sorts of questions normal?

Working with children
If I wanted to work with children/teens to hold after school sessions in a community centre and revision sessions for paticular subjects, how would I go about it? Ofcourse I know I would have to find a market, and I would have to find teachers willing to spare time into this project, consider CRB checks and so on. Can…

Job offered but then withdrawn due to references
I need some advice as to whether there is a legal case in the following situation. My wife applied for and was told verbally over the phone that she had got a job with a sheltered housing company just before Christmas. She duly handed in her notice of four weeks at this time. She did not receive anything until a letter…

Can you claim jobseekers whilst volunteering?
I'm in a sticky situation where in order for me to progress onto a University course and a career (Archivist) I have to get some work experience first. The course states they expect you to have at least 3 months experience and it seems like most people do this through volunteering. I just don't see how I can support myself…

Lack of confidence at work
Hi all, I have been at a new position, very technical, for a little over a year now. There are several products to work with and the knowledge has to be extensive. So far, I have been doing very well, management is pleased, but thanks to the "mentor", my colleague working alongside me. He has been doing the job for 13…

Stuttering and Graduate Applications - Accounting
I'll probably dip in and out of this thread for general reasons, but I'm starting it for a specific reason. I'm applying to the NI Audit Office for a job as a trainee graduate accountant. I've got a stammer which has played up on me in two interviews already, for accounting firms. (I won't start claiming it was because of…
