I am applying for a job and the questions are slightly putting me off:-
Are you married?
How many children do you have?
Seems a bit unfair as i feel like maybe already they are sifting married mothers out of the equation??
Are these sorts of questions normal?

If they are asking everyone the same question then there is no problem, however if they use this information to base their decision on employment then it is disciminatoryAlways ask ACAS0

Yes, these questions are frequent when applying for new jobs. It is usually worded different i.e 'What is your marital status?' and 'Are there any children in your household?'. You can always state 'prefer not to say' if you do not wish to disclose this information.
