I'm being told I must available for calls out of hours and to work up to an hour or more over time at maybe an hour or two's notice
For instance, yesterday I worked an hour O/T to clear up issues which had arisen while I was in meetings most of the day, today I've taken two calls since I left work at 4.30 (after working 30 mins o/t) One needed to be dealt with by my boss, but it took me another 20 mins to get in touch with him and pass the message over, all this was while I was trying to get the families tea. The phone system was switched to route to my mobile during the snow and hasn't been switched back since
I may receive up to 5 text messages from contacts a night, often late evening, which interupts my family time (which is very prescious to me as my OH works shifts)
If I work over time, I'm supposed to take time off in lieu, preferably not a whole day at a time (which would be most valuable to me, especially if it could be co ordinated with OH's rest days). There is no arrangement for me to take out of hours calls, even though both my bosses are supposed to be available OOH.
I can feel the resentment building, but I'm not sure what my position is with regard to refusing to be available. I've worked for the company for nearly 18 months and had a great relationship with the boss, but recently a new member of sales staff has meant an increased work load for me without an increase in official hours.

Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

You need to say this to your boss. Tell them that while you are prepared to demonstrate good will you feel you are being treated unfairly now. Do not be bullied into working for nothing. Good Luckwhinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0

Having been out of work for 18 months my advice would be to stick it out- at least you have a job whether you are happy there or not. Keep doing a good job for them and keep an eye out for something else if you are really unhappy, but do not jeopardise your position there.:)"It is far better I say nothing and let people think I am an idiot than to open my mouth and confirm it beyond any doubt."0
