NI payments?

I work for my husband who has a Ltd Company. We paid an accountant to do all the payroll and corporation tax.

I have just had a letter from HMRC which says I only have a certain amount of years worth of NI payments and that I need to pay more to qualify for more years. There are several years missing where we have been paying NI contributions.

I just took a look at my P60 for 2008/2009 and noticed it is missing my NI number. I also got a copy of the P14 and that is also missing my NI number. Would this mean that payments made on behalf of myself by my husbands company have not been allocated to my NI account? We are no longer with the same accountants as they made lots of mistakes but how do we find out if the NI payments have been allocated to mine (and my husbands) NI accounts and how do we rectify this if they haven't?

Yes, if HMRC dont know your NI number, the payments cant be attached to your account. Its simple to rectify - just write to HMRC, give them your NI number and details of where you have worked for the missing years.
