invoice unpaid for 4 months - how to get my money

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster - please be nice :)

I need some advie getting paid by a company I did some freelance work for mid-end of last year.

I did a number of "shifts" or them between July and September (4 I think) and upon submitting invoice (and chasing quite a bit) I was paid for the work completed. One or two invoices took a while to be paid, but liking the work and being financially stable I was able to wait.

The last two bits of work were mid September and mid October. Invoices and copies have been sent a number of times but to no avail.

My partner was working for the same company for the last year or so, and now that he's quit it seems the company are taking their sweet time more than usual as he's no longer there to hassle on my behalf.

I've taken to letter only communication now, and also started with recorded delivery as I want proof I've been communicating. 4th letter (1st rec delivery letter) was received on 4th January, and there's been no rsponse.

What should I be doing now? I'm sick of being fobbed off on the phone, with empty promises, and live way too far away to face-to-face.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Threat of small claims court and if that doesn't work, actually start up a small claims via www.moneyclaim.gov.uk.

They'll almost certainly pay up before it hits court if they're not disputing they owe the money and they're solvent.
