DLA renewed until 2019?
My DLA [Mid Care/Low Mobility] is due to end on 21/05/14. I was surprised when I received, a couple of months ago, a DLA renewal form as I was under the impression I would be applying for PIP this year. Anyway between the letter that came with it, and reading on here, I discovered that PIP had been delayed in most areas,…

Changing From Parent's Child Tax Credits and Child Benefit to ESA
How does a 19 year old switch from their parent receiving CTC and CB to their own ESA claim, please? It looks as though the parent's claims have to stop first, leaving no income for the child while ESA is decided? Nightmare for family in straightened circumstances if this runs into more than a fortnight. The young person…

The work programme vs my MA
So, at first I was amused. I had a letter arrive yesterday asking me to attend a meeting about the WP and how it could help me next Wednesday. I'm in the last 9 months of a vocational MA, so I couldn't commit to any kind of WP activity at the moment - my MA has been extended as I can't quite manage to keep up with the…

Fit note question/reasonable adjustments
Hey So after my most recent visit to my GP she was concerned about my recent mood (am bipolar) and issued a fit note saying I was to "avoid very early shifts" and "avoid shifts longer than 8 hours" (this was due to me struggling with the 6am shifts and doing 12 hour shifts) Work had been accomodating, and have had me on…

"Atos is quitting its contract to assess whether benefits claimants in Britain are fit to work, the government says. It follows government criticism over "significant quality failures". urgently need legal advice before they take my children
I urgently need help with my local social services. For 15 years they have bullied me, been offensive due to lack of understanding about my condition. Nearly every 3yrs or so they pull all my care and make me fight to retrieve it. The last time was August last year claiming I had miss spent funds. They took me to the…

Im complicated so a little background before I get to my point; I was on a clinical trial of a drug 10 years ago and kept taking the drug post trial. Disabled parkig bay issues
2 years ago I applied for a disabled parking bay on our street, as close to our house as possible. As it turns out the bay has to be placed on the road outside next door-but-one as there are double yellows on the road outside mine and next doors. I asked for the bay to be placed on top of the yellows so that it wasn't…

TV / Films with subtitles
Hi, I'm doing some research for my mother who is deaf and needs subtitles to watch TV and films. Is anyone aware of a set top box supplier like Skye and all the rest who provide a wider option of viewing material that is well subtitled? Apparantly the freeview programmes can be very eratically subtitled, with chunks…

Medical Exemption
I have a medical exemption certificate, issued by my doctor, because I am in a wheelchair (neurological illness). I know this entitles me to free prescriptions, but a friend said it also entitles me to free eye tests and dental care. Is this true? Btw I get DLA (higher on both) and ESA (support group).

Advantages for carers guidance.
Hello Everyone, Last year I received a diagnosis and I am now classed as disabled. I have not given up work and I don't receive any benefits. There are certain things I am not allowed to do on my own now and need a carer with me. I am writing to ask if you know of any advantages for carers that aren't benefits related -…
