It's time!
Hey guys, I think I've hit my breaking point. I've sunk further and further into credit card and overdraft debt and it's gotten out of control. I've made myself a plan (like I have done numerous times before) but I'm hoping by posting on here I have some accountability and actually stick to it. My debts are as follows:…

What are a person's rights in this situation?
Waste of time. Didn't even read correctly before offering "advice" that would have incurred further debt and not resolved any of the issues had. An exercise in learning how quickly people make a judgement before actually absorbing all the facts.

CCJ issues: default judgment claim form not signed?
Dear all, I am new to the boards, sorry in advance for any obvious naiveties. I received an email to 2 addresses (including my work address) 2 days ago informing me I had had a judgment in default made against me on behalf of the solicitors who advised me on an abortive divorce case from 2009-12. The solicitor advising me…

We have a mortgage and unsecured debts totalling £167,000. Our unsecured debts are £44,000 and we're currently in a DMP, but it's going to take until 2044 to clear it all!…

Managing Debt and Returning to Study
Hi, I'm pretty sure this is the wrong area of the forum to post, but I'm unsure where else to get advice. So as with many of us, I got into a bit of financial trouble when I was a bit younger. I currently owe about £10k across a couple of credit cards and have agreements with the creditors to pay it back with minimum…

Small wins vs Sensible debt repayments
So I'm tackling my debt and I've sort of got it all sorted out in my head and using various tools available on here. The short story is that I have spare money now to throw at debt so I can start reducing it rather than treading water. However it will take time and I do have a bit of a dilemma. I do understand paying off…

Thank you guys
I have been debt free for a few years, but I regularly read the threads here, not so that I can bask in being debt free, but to ensure I stay on the straight and narrow. For those plucking up the courage to bare your souls, have no fear once you have done so. The advice & support by the regular posters is fantastic and…

Save money or put towards debt?
We have brought a house and should be moving in the next few months. Currently have £15K of debts - manageable but still a monthly burden. We are on a strict budget from now until we move and no unnecessary spends are allowed. What should I do with the money we save? Try and hammer down the cards or save in a separate…

I am sitting here in tears, not sure where to start. Very briefly, I am paying a £16,000 loan over the next 5 years which was paying credit card debt. I have also just moved 4600 onto a 0% credit card as I had built that up in the meantime. I dont know how to budget!! I transfer £900 to our joint account for bills and…

Defaults
I was in a controlling relationship whereby my finances and the household finances were dealt with by my partner. Towards the end of the relationship I went into hospital for emergency brain surgery that left me on intensive care with bleeding on the brain. I was in hospital for almost 4 months. When I got out of hospital,…

Hello again!
Hi everyone - I was amazed that when I logged in for the first time in a few years I got my 10 year badge! Doesn't seem anything like that! I became debt free back in 2014 clearing nearly £60K of (joint) debt with a house sale. Since then we have been doing OK - no house but cars paid for etc. and keeping on top of things…
