someone else's ccj added to my credit file!!!!

Default Credit file error!!
Hello everyone, I'm in the process of renting a house and they are doing credit checks at the minute, I've just had a look at my credit file and Experian have added a ccj??? I've never had a ccj my name is Richard but this ccj is registered to Stuart? This stuart has the same sername as me so how do I go about this, I've already paid the estate agents £270 for the credit and background checks which they are doing at the minute so that would surely fail it even though it's not my ccj how in the hell can they get this wrong? Some advice would greatly be appreciated. Thank you! Rich.

The CRA`s make mistakes all the time.

A few years ago, I was linked to an address down south i`d never heard of, and certainly had never lived at.

Turned out to be the offices of the insolvency service, couldn't make it up could you.

  • Contact Experian, Equifax and Callcredit and dispute the information. Chances are it will be showing on all three CRAs.

There is no need for it to be a complaint. It's simply a dispute.
  • Hi I've checked on noddle and clear score and it hasn't got anything on it like that on it, it's apparently been on Experian since 20th June 2016!! We have already paid £270 for the credit check and background checks last Friday and it's done by Experian! So we'll fail that now, we've handed in our notice to our landlord last Friday too so really didn't want to be in this situation! I'll ring estate agents tomorrow morning to let them know! Thank you everyone!
  • They would be able to see that it is in the wrong name, if you explain to them that this is currently being disputed then they should take that into account. It would be pretty wrong of them to look at a CCJ on your credit profile and see it is in the wrong name and still not let you go for it.

Did you ring Experian to dispute it?
