Lucky Break
Hi! I've been lurking around these forums for a long long time and have finally got up the courage to post. As you will see as I go on, my situation has improved hugely from where I was a couple of years ago but I need to not mess up again, take the opportunity i've got to become debt free and stay that way! Due to…

Not sure where to go?
Without going into too much detail ( I find it difficult enough just typing this ), I'm in debt to the tune of roughly £7000 on credit cards. I'm in a DMP with Stepchange but as I can only afford £42 pcm, It'll take about 13 years to be debt free. I've budgeted and looked at finances, I just don't earn enough to pay more.…

Martson Debt Advice
Dear All, I received a letter from Marston asking me to pay a debt of £1100 by 3rd July. I couldn't afford this and made a payment of £200 on 30th June and contacted them via email to offer a payment plan of £150. Marston didn't respond to me, they sent an enforcement person on 7th July, i wasn't in, but they added further…

Tuesday 14th July - What small DFW things will you do today?
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

How to find out if I have further debts
Hi Everyone, I posted today regarding a CCJ that has been registered against me for an old Santander overdraft. After receiving advice I am going to ask for proof of the payment they say I made in 2009, and once I'm satisfied, I will pay it in full as I am trying to put ourselves in the best position for a mortgage and…

Lowell - Old Orange Debt - Court Order
I am helping my brother get back on track with his finances (it's not one of those stories, haha, I have great credit :P). He is useless, gets finance in other people's name and doesn't think of the consequences... but that's not the issue here. He recently received a court order applied for by Lowells who purchased debt…

Hi guys. Having a bit of an issue with Lowell at the moment I am currently paying a debt with them. But they are stating I owe money on an old O2 account. They say belongs to me. I requested proof of ownership as I only ever had a payg 02 sim. They have responded with the following email. Hi Martyn, Thank you for getting…

Not sure if debt is enforceable
Hi Everyone, I'm new here, and looking for some help if I may. Many years ago, I had lots of financial difficulties and have spent the last 10 years trying to put everything in order. Various creditors were paid, some have become statute barred. Which leads onto now. I was under the impression that I was finally debt free,…

Urgent help with parking tickets and bailiffs
Apologies if this is in the wrong section. While on holiday in Whitby with my parter, we parked outside outside the Bnb. He was given two tickets, one because he accidentally gave the wrong date of arrival on the permit he paid for at the Bnb and another because he circled the dates with s pen instead of scratched them off…

LCS .. advice/peace of mind please?!
Hey all, here is my predicament.... So I've been homeless for a couple of years now, it's no big deal, I've made it work for me. I've received several letters now from LCS. I haven't kept them. Essentially, they have been demanding a payment for an address that I have never lived at (although do visit regularly. It's also…

Full and final settlement
We owe £1900 over 14 Accounts. 8 of which are now under £100. We're paying £620 a month at the moment. DMP due to end in November but would like to get it resolved before if possible. Can we snow ball the small ones without getting in a mess with our other larger creditors? What we'd planned to do orginally was make a full…

Somebody please help me :(
So, I've owned up to my debts. 10k. I'm 25 years old. I have less than £1 to live off for the next 15 days. I've spent 2 hours on my laptop this morning. I've completed the budget tools and desperately tried to get through to one of the debt counsellors to get some help. I keep getting disconnected or sent 'self-help'…

When does the knot go
Hi all, I'm a newby whose lightbulb moment came last week. My hubby and I are in 33k of debt from just general overspending, not saving for anything with etc. I'd been hiding it but came clean to hubby last week and we've spent the weekend doing a (hopefully) realistic spreadsheet and hope to have paid it all off in 3…

Single mom wishing for a debt-free life :(
During the demise of my marriage, we split our debt as equitably as possible and each of us took responsibility for our portion. We had furniture payments, credit card payments, and a defaulted student loan . In hindsight, I should have never co-signed.It is scary to be responsible for even half of this debt we had…
