Santander and my 6 year relationship
Go easy on me guys as I don't post too often.... Just wanted to get some opinions from people to see if anyone thinks I have any grounds to complain or if I should just pay for my crimes! Towards the end of 2014/beginning of 2015 I developed a somewhat idiotic gambling problem, it put me in a lot of financial difficulty…

CIFAS cat 6 HELP!!!
Hi, first post on here and some advice would be great. Please don’t judge, we all make mistakes but here goes, I had banked with Lloyds for 20+ years all going well until recently when I had a letter saying they were closing my account. Reason being I gambled a fair bit and ended up going 3k overdrawn of which I had no…

Remortgaging and switching energy supplier
Hi, hopefully an easy question for someone in the know. Martin Lewis often mentions not to apply for too many things at once which check your credit rating... i.e. multiple current accounts, credit cards or whatever. How does a remortgage and an energy switch stack up? We are changing to a new mortgage deal after leaving a…

I'm 18 months post DMP with 'youngest' default 4 years old. My husband has a perfect credit score and history (my debts are from before we met & we have no financial association). We currently rent and want to buy our own home. Will our combined history make it difficult to get a mortgage i.e. will high street lenders…

Hi Guys, So I was declared bankrupt in December 2011 and was discharged in December 2012 exactly 12 months later. I was under the impression this would be of my records 5-6 years later so now? I have just applied for a mortgage and have been rejected. I found an old credit report from a few years back which showed some of…

Moved back to the UK - questions about credit report addresses
Hi, About two years ago I moved away from the UK, and closed all my accounts. I know, probably very stupid of me to not at least keep my current account open, but I didn't think I would be back this quickly. Now I'm back and I will soon be opening new accounts. My question is about previous adresses. My credit report has…

Ineligible through location
Hello, thank you for accepting my application to join the forum. Hope I am not repeating a previous query, but search didn't reveal similar question. My issue is that I am an Isle of Man resident and many providers exclude this area. If I inadvertently apply to a provider that does not cover the IOM, does this refusal also…

Is MSE Credit Club as good as Experian?
I signed up to Experian a few years ago after a new CC was intercepted, activated and used, so I signed up to Experian for some safety. Have since seen about MSE’s own Credit Club, it mentions it uses Experian. So is it a no brainier to switch? Got no complaints with Experian but if I can save £10 a month, even better!

Effect of satisfied CCJ on rating?
My partner just realised while checking his loan eligibility that he has a CCJ from August last year - this was the first we'd heard of it and his credit rating has always been excellent before this. Having checked the register it turned out it was an outstanding water bill from our last house (we moved in June). It was a…

Shall I settle debts with no interest and will it affect the defaults?
Hi I defaulted on 4 debts (3 of them in 2014 and 1 in 2015) when I tried to start my own business. I wrote to the lenders and agreed token payments. The total of the payments is £30. I knew they would disappear from my file eventually and there was no interest on them, so I thought why bother paying more? I have been back…
