Credit rating and debts
Hi, I wonder if anyone has any advice. I got divorced 7 years ago and was left with about £25k of debt, following some frankly awful career choices I was in a position where I could't afford to pay and suffered badly from depression. I moved house and used a friends bank account to avoid the debt collectors. I am now back…

CapitalOne - not rebuilding my credit?
Hi, my first post on MSE, wd be grateful for your thoughts/advice. Two years back I obtained a Capital One credit card with the sole intention of rebuilding my credit. I have used it consistently and always repaid it in full every single month in plenty of time so that I never once went into interest. However, when I…

Free credit score check
I've used Experian and Equifax before to obtain a free credit check report and cancelled within the 30 day trial period. Are there any other places I can go to because when I try to go back for another trial period (understandably) they say I'm an existing customer and try to charge me £15 per month. Any ideas? Thanks!

Mum used my name to get credit years ago...Arrow Global refuse to investigate fraud >
as it's a civil matter. They say they won't change the name on the account as "it is legally in the name of xxxx" Help please, what are my next steps? I've done everything they asked of me. I created a fraud thing online, I asked my Mum to write a letter to them, signed saying she opened the account fraudulently and in my…

What next, advice please ??
Having checked Experian & Equifax I have a default from 2011 from EE Orange. OK so far. I had a dispute changing from a PAYG phone to a contract. 300 Minutes and unlimited texts and at the end of the month ended up with a bill of nearly £800. Paid some and argued that if it was PAYG it should have cut off when I ran out of…

Does opening a lot of current accounts hit your credit score?

I currently have no credit cards as I cancelled my…

Paypal Anti-Money Laundering search on my Noddle report
I've just applied for my Noddle report and it seems paypal did an Anti-Money Laundering search on me about 10 months ago. I do remember getting an email regarding money going through my account (I was very into ebay selling for a time) and asking me to confirm who I am but at the time didn't realise that is what they were…

Got home from work and have a letter from Halifax - they are increasing my cc rate from 18.9% to 25.95%! Current balance £3300. I had reached limits on my ccs last month but paid off a loan for my pc, so my debt is still…

Basic bank account and credit rating.
Does having just a basic bank account (co-op cashminder) affect your credit rating? Is it worth trying to get an upgraded account as i don't need an overdraft, extras, etc.

Double check your Noddle free report
I just checked my free Noddle credit report, and it said that I haven't paid a credit card for two months, which isn't true. I've emailed them and asked them to correct it, but thought it would be a good idea to encourage other people to make sure their information is correct.

I have the following issues: 1. Old Lloyds Default, sold to Lowell but both showing on my report. It is for the SAME debt and information is exactly the same. surely the Lloyds one should go as they sold it to Lowell? Experian say this is normal to still show both. 2. Satisfaction defaults show still as default with £0…

Equifax and Tenant Referencing
Hi I have just filled in and submitted a reference form for my landlord via a website called Landlord Secure. They use Equifax. not my debt but ruined my credit
Hoping someone may have some advice. In 2012 I got a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owed 6000+ for catalogue debt. However I didn't have an account with them.
