limits on fees by UK companies?
Hi, Is there now a legal limit on how much a UK company can charge for use of a credit or debit card? I know of one ( Event Travel) that charges at least 2% even on debit cards! Is this allowed? Or can they charge whatever they like?

Barclaycard initial for Student
Hi I am a second year uni student who has recently been bombarded with Barclaycard initial letters. That said, parents have suggested applying so that I have some credit history rather than none (as I do currently), so just to use now and again really. However I have done their eligibility checker and it says I'm not…

Refund to expired credit card - will it come through?
Hi all. I bought an electrical item from Amazon in December which is faulty and they've today put through a full refund for the item. The trouble is that this credit card expired at the end of March and I'm using the new one that Tesco Bank sent me earlier this year. Will the refund still reach my credit card?

Hi, I consider myself very financially responsible. I have never needed or had a credit before and don't need one now as I have sufficient savings and am not planning any big purchases however I am considering applying for one, as the title states for the rewards and also for credit rating. A friend of mine told me some…

Can a credit card company 'call in' the debt?
Hi, Currently running the rule over the best way to finance some home improvements and to my surprise a Money Transfer on an existing card is looking quite good ( @ 0% for a year + a 2% transfer fee). My main questions/query over this is do credit card companies ever reduce their credit limit with you and then expect you…

Delayed Fraud Reporting Due To Extended Travel
Hi all.. In June 2014 a cash withdrawal was made on my post office mastercard that I don't believe was by me. I was travelling, but not in the place where the withdrawal was made. I can also prove this. My travels were over a long period (1and a half years), and I did not log into my credit card account due to security…

Applying for a first credit card whilst employed on a zero hours contract.
To expand upon the thread title, I have never had a credit card before, but I feel like it's about time I start to build some sort of credit file. My plan is to apply for a credit building card (Barclaycard Initial or Tesco Foundation, probably), use it for a few basic monthly purchases and pay it off in full. I am…

I know this is tiered to the personal finances of the applicant, but hopefully some seasoned card holders will have an idea at the type of limits offered. Advice please: Credit Card vs Overdraft
Hi MSE community, I'm about to go on a 3 week holiday to the USA and have saved up £1,500+ in spends for when I'm there. I've got a credit card with a limit of £1,500 but have a balance of £975 on it. I'm worried that if any emergency arrises I'll need a little bit more of a cushion that £525 on the credit card. I applied…

How many credit cards is too much?
I have 3 credit cards totalling £14k limits. Utilisation is close to full on all so roughly £13.5k outstanding (house renovations). tesco credit card upcoming t&c changes
Seems tesco in a bid to get their profits under control are activating numerous negative changes to their cc conditions. I will paste below. Hi. I'm hoping someone could help. I can't quite find the exact answer.. I have a credit card which I transferred a balance to. The 0% promo rate ends in 2018. I've been offered a balance transfer on the same card but with a 0% promo rate that ends 2017. Let's say (to make it easier to explain) that I transfer £100 onto…
